Had a Huawei P9 for the last year, hugely impressed, been a revelation to be honest after years and years of being a brand snob. Hot!

With Huawei recently toppling Apple in worldwide sales you soon will be dubbed a "brand snob"!

I had the P10 Lite for a while but returned it. Had some lag issues, battery standby drain and also touch screen problems where often a swipe would act as a touch

Funny you mention that - I had similar on a P9, it seems to be a bit of an issue along with phantom touch on Huawei phones. The place where they are let down is support, it's terrible compared to the other big companies.

Found the same with the P8 Lite 2017 too. Bought it for the wife as a replacement for her Moto X Play but after two weeks use, she is not able to live with the lag - and they don't work with Fitbits either (though that's Fitbits fault really) which was also a deal breaker. We gave it a chance, but waiting 5 seconds for it to fill in a text message after you typed some characters is just useless.

The P9 is a absolutely amazing phone with imo one of the best cameras I've seen (Leica Lens simply amazing), wish it wasn't £300 though as I bought my Xperia X for nearly half that price..

I've used the p6, p7, p8, honor 7 and am typing this on the P10 Plus, I have always seen Huawei as a half decent brand. They're right up there with LG (maybe not there with Sony and Samsung just yet) in terms of Android handsets and in my personal opinion, my favourite Android phones.
I came from an iPhone 7 to the P10 Plus and am preferring this in all honesty! Looking forward to see what they do next.

I’ve got the P9 Lite and it’s a fantastic phone for the money (paid £130). More than enough speed, incredibly smooth, lovely display. The only negative is Huawei said it would get Nougat in March but it still hasn’t arrived!

Might be more down to your supplier, is it EE? I believe Vodaphone are on 7 or if you unlock the bootloader you can get nougat from Huawei which is a bit extreme as it invalidate s the warranty. That's what I ended up doing.

I had the same problem with my P9 Lite. But last night I updated to Nougat finally!!! Use app called Firmware Finder. All it does is that it will help your phone find the update, so it will show up in the official updater - this will not void the warranty. More details here forum.xda-developers.com/hua…072 (it looks complicated but it isn't! take 2-3 minutes)

Beware, it may brick your phone if it has an O2-branded firmware.
If you can wait 1-2 weeks, O2 are finally releasing their own - from Kris_K at the O2 forums: community.o2.co.uk/t5/…/12
"I've got some good news from our device team, folks!
We've now approved the Nougat update for the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite and have sent this back to Huawei for schedule/release - typically this happens within 1-2 weeks, but sometimes sooner/later, so keep your eyes peeled and you'll hopefully have this soon.
P9 Plus customers, no new updates to share just yet - we're awaiting the new software to begin testing but once we've more details to share, we'll let you know."
On the next page, cornetuk says:
"Yay! Update is now available via OTA. I'll go for it tonight [that's tonight]."

Updating using Firmware Finder does not brick the phone as I have updated my P9 to Nougat after getting fed up of waiting for O2 to release their firmware. My phone was purchased from O2.

But are you sure the latest one will work installed directly over the original? As, I see you did your updates gradually: hotukdeals.com/com…376

Be careful.I messed mine up 2 weeks ago on My P9 as fed up waiting for official update to be released.Mine got stuck on a very early android release.I sold it to Cex for £110 and got the Blue P10 plus from cpw before they hiked up the price.Loving the P10 Plus.I did have a few bugs in The P9 lite and P9, the green camera photos, known issue and also no notifications in threaded messages but so far no such issues in the P10 plus and battery life is great. Also official cases on amazon are less than £10

Huawei are not the quickest at updating their handsets, that is for sure. The P10 plus 128 gb/6 gb ram model was £499.Exclusive to CPW.Now £649.99.

I spotted the P10 Plus for £499 at CPW a few weeks ago (P10 was reduced to £399). I didn't post it as a deal as I thought it would do badly.

This should work on most Huawei phones. Just install it and see if it finds any updates. It should be the same procedure as for p9 lite described in the article.

Voted hot from my P10 lite.
Really enjoying mine, I've only ever had flagships til now (HTC Hero, Galaxy S2, HTC One, Nexus 6) but this has more than enough oomph for me, and is a good size/screen ratio and lovely to hold in the hand. I do wonder how it will be for software updates and there isn't a developer scene for custom ROMs, but it should get Android Oreo (eventually).
