Having been in two trade requiring the drilling of brick ( other than extremely soft brick) I can say that only, repeat ONLY an SDS drill will drill into brick. The other will eventually do it after a lot of time & stress. If you are up a ladder in winter when it's freezing, you could only agree with me.

Is this good enough to drill into brick walls/plaster for rawl plugs (e.g. upto 5cm).

Probably ok for plaster, definitely ok for plasterboard, but no good for brick/stone. You want a combi or hammer drill.

No. You need a hammer drill for breeze blocks or brick. You need an SDS drill for drilling concrete such as concrete lintels over Windows etc.

I'm no expert but I drilled through a 12" wall (for an aerial cable lead) using a £13 Tesco Value 9.6V Cordless drill, so I'm sure this could sink a few rawl plugs...

not strictly true, i have a 10.8v one from aldi and it goes into brick , depends on the type of brick and how good your bits are i would think
