Having been in two trade requiring the drilling of brick ( other than extremely soft brick) I can say that only, repeat ONLY an SDS drill will drill into brick. The other will eventually do it after a lot of time & stress. If you are up a ladder in winter when it's freezing, you could only agree with me.

Is this good enough to drill into brick walls/plaster for rawl plugs (e.g. upto 5cm).

not strictly true, i have a 10.8v one from aldi and it goes into brick , depends on the type of brick and how good your bits are i would think

OK deal but see if you can get something in homebase on offer, just check if your OK with limiting yourself to a 10mm chuck

Absolute bargain as this has 2 batteries. I have the prev 18v version and has been faultless over 2 years of regular use. Ordered this one as my nicad drill no longer holds charge.

I got one of these a couple of years ago as a stopgap when my bosch (blue) drill finally retired with a damp whimper. Wasnt expecting much, but was near the end of a job and it was cheap. The thing was a revelation and whilst light does give a sense of confidence in use. The batteries last for ages and havent aged since getting it. Bargain at this money.

You dont need a hammer drill for breeze block, this would be perfect.

This is a good buy. It will drill into brick but slowly, depending on hardness of brick. To drill into brick you really need an SDS drill, hammer drills are really no better than this. I have both an SDS & one of these & between the two they do everything I need. If you can only afford this, buy it, then later get an SDS drill, as & when you can afford it.

For anyone near or passing a Homebase it's worth checking in there as these are on offer for £30 in my local Homebase (Sheffield Drakehouse). Have drill/driver sets reduced and also same brand mini-circular saws for the same price.

They are on the silver racks to the right of the main entrance just as you walk in the door (had about 8 of each when I was in yesterday and also some Stanley power tools reduced as well).

Loads of stuff reduced in-store (I picked up new light fittings, picture frames, garden furniture, BBQs, vases, candles etc).

Just pickd up the 13mm chuck version at homebase for £32 (wx371.3) with hammer action, 2 batteries bag etc was showing as oos no matter whether I tried new account, click & collect or home delivery at B&Q, have had worx tools in the past with no problems.

Uh. You should probably pay someone to do your DIY for you instead of buying a drill.

ive got this. but with 1 battery. Not a bad drill. not recommended if you do alot of masonry drilling with big drill bits as it does struggle.

you freeze up ladder regardless, i used to fit dishes in the late eighties.

To add, of course a hammer is good enough with good quality bits and using a smaller drill size first then correct size.Sds for breaking concrete etc is invaluable for that and far better than a chisel and hammer .

agree, I have a few myself, but to say you cannot drill masonry and concrete with anything other than an sds drill is misleading. for most people using red or brown plugs a cheap hammer drill is sufficient.

Funny you should say that... Mine got delivered today. Put the first battery on charge, all seemed well (LEDs flashing). Went back an hour later and charger not working at all. Nothing. :-/

They are well known for their chargers failing. Wish I knew that before buying a Worx drill. Paid top whack for it too! :-(
