I've just come off the phone with Sky asking them for a box with more storage than my 2 year old 500GB Sky+ HD box. After giving me their spiel about Sky Q for £199 and falling on deaf ears, the assistant was able to offer me a swap of my old box for a reconditioned 2TB model for £15 + £15 courier delivery, which I consider a very good deal.
FYI the assistant had to trick the system into thinking I already had a 2TB box, but he assured me that this was still a normal procedure rather than a dodge under the table deal - worth finding out for yourself.
Let me know how you get on in the comment section.
I have currently also no "invoice" to prove this, but I'll update with it, if or when I receive one.
Edit: member confirmed comes with 3 months warranty on the reconditioned hardware.
UPDATE: Initially marked as anecdotal, but now confirmed success by several members. And remember, if at first you don't succeed, brush yourself off and try again  - success seem to depend on the person you reach. Some of us had to call three/four times

Wasn't me you responded to, but I've had the same info in a USwitch email and when you click on the link it gives you more info:
What difference would it make to the deal if they offered the 2Tb box for £30 with free delivery?

By the way, I think the best way to success would be to tell them that you're aware of the practice and that you know someone that was offered it. They can't play dumb this way and would have to make up an excuse why i deserve this "deal" and you don't. Fingers crossed.

they have to send out sky engineer to adjust/replace the LNB on satellite dish. If they have tricked the system into thinking you already have 2T Sky Q box then they may not send out an engineer. This may mean you may not get the full functionality.
At a guess this maybe the ability to record 4 programs and watch the 5th.

Voted hot. Thanks so much for the post  My old 500gb box is always running at 5% or below and I'm always deleting programmes I want to keep. Just called up and got the same offer, 2TB box for £30. There was some initial resistance with the person tell me there aren't any boxes left, but I pushed on quoting that I had read someone had got one just an hour ago. Anyway thanks again OP. Was looking to get a 2tb box off ebay, but doubt I would have got one for £30.00

Gosrani I think they are just upgrading the sky+ hd box to a 2TB sky+ hd box and not the Sky Q upgrade therefore nothing has to be done to the LNB/Dish as it still only uses two feeds.

£15 postage is a bit excessive

I agree but when looking at the total cost I'm very happy with the upgrade cost for 4x the storage.
