Hollywood's adaptation of the novels chose to have a person of a certain heritage/colour and other may choose to have another. JKR herself states this and the fact she is happy with a directors choice of 'black' or 'white' actors playing the part - so long as character is true to the script. One of the key tenants if the book is that its not the difference of how we look that makes us good or bad, but our actions, words and character.

As an advisor on all of the films including a producer credit on the final two, she "signed off" the whole look of the HP universe. She approved Jim Kay's illustrations in the illustrated Philosophers Stone book. Changing it now, just so she can meet so called 'Diversity' quotas is pathetic.
I am not a racist. I would have the same issue if the character of 'Cho Chang' was played by a non asian actor in a future production. Continuity, for me, is very important.

Well I don't know about the illustrations, but on the front cover of the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermione has the same skin tone as Harry. A book that came out before the movies.

I find the whole argument silly, I think it's obvious JKR intended Hermione to be white, but at the end of the day she doesn't care what the skin tone is as long as the charactor is done justice.
