John Lewis are next to drop their price and are 5p cheaper than Amazon, plus you also get their standard 2 Year Warranty.

i would say the things going for this is
price - its right at the bottom of the price range for a usable spec
the spec itself - all things considered its very usable, screen is decent enough for size (yes we get 1080p etc on phones but the panel makes a difference and tbh, past a point at this size i dont see the difference (point in case i think i prefer my 720p redmi 3 to 1080p moto x play)
very hackable - sideloading, google play, CM, kodi, all possible
community support - asolutely rammed with support on all corners of the net
warranty - both amazon and JL are very good in the CS front and so you've pretty much got 2 year no quibble return and replace should something go wrong. im not sure you'd get the same with a linx etc
im considering picking one up myself. will i use it over my ipad mini 2 in most cases? nope. but then i'd use it differently. use cases would be taking to the gym, using as a portable hard drive with the sd card. taking it on journeys / trips where i wouldnt want to risk the ipad.
everyone has their price point to use / benefit.
if its not for you thats OK. But hopefully people can see it does the job for some.

Linx 7 is about £10-£20 more and you do get full windows on it. But the battery life is only 3 hours! As mentioned, I want a tablet for when I travel, so 3 hours is **** (as you like to put it), so the Kindle Fire 7 is perfect for me.
For someone who is so opinionated and dead certain that there are better deals/tablets out there, why not post them here on HUKD and share it with the community?

Try telling that to PC World/Currys.

Straight swap at John Lewis should it be faulty (but in otherwise good cosmetic condition) ...always handy to keep the box for that uncertainty, adds to appearance of care.

When the Amazon Fire 7'' tablet is on offer, it's on offer, everywhere! This seems to trump Tesco, Argos & Amazon with that 2 year warranty  Nice one!

Don't buy it! It's afwul. Unless, you're planning on using it as a mouse mat!

I have one, and it is absolutely fine for watching tv shows and films or reading the news on the commute to work and it was £35 quid for me so if anything happens to it, it isn't the end of the world!

If it's awful then why did 9,328 (71%) people give it 5 stars? They're all idiots??

Depends what you want it for. If you want to play the latest 3d games then no, it's not right for you. If you are using it for light usage then it's a steal. I use mine for a home automation remote control and it works fine.
