The 900 series will be getting ASYNC compute support, via drivers (software). This goes directly against your 'proof' that NVIDIA are forcing people to upgrade. Also this goes directly against your claim that next gen Pascal won't have it.
So no, your 'two years time' thing is a joke.
The Pascal series *will have ASYNC compute*. Either software or hardware, which road they choose we don't know.
But what we can't make an assumption on is how well it will perform compared to the ASYNC compute solution offered by AMD. You are guessing it will be better because they labeled it as 'hardware'.
Well, what about the difference in FreeSync and Gsync? Gsync variable refresh is done via hardware while FreeSync is done via software. Do you contend that FreeSync is worse than Gsync because of this?
Anyway, surely you won't agree, you'll find a way to smash NVIDIA and praise AMD. That's just what you do.
One more thing. FreeSync won't work on older graphics cards, but Gsync will work on cards all the way back to the 600 series.
Doesn't that sound like AMD are 'forcing' users to upgrade their graphics cards to take advantage of FreeSync? Where is your outcry for that? Or are you so blinded by your hatred for NVIDIA that you cannot see that both companies behave in very similar ways?

Yes, strange how people posting Overclockers UK deals always seem to be coy about mentioning their outrageous delivery prices :smirk:

Not such a good deal if you are looking for the best price/performance. Especially considering Nvidia GPUs do not have ASYNC compute hardware(and therefor not windows 10 DX12 proof -) or the fact Nvidia are demanding users cash for the latest drivers they produce unless you are prepared to wait longer.
There is better out there.

And as you well know, has no ASync compute and that will most likely be a problem.
But hey, of your an Nvidia junkie looking for a cheap short-term solution, fill your boots.

Buy a amd card as we need to keep them in the game and also the amd card will age far better in the lower tier gpu. So every one wins

Good price for a 4GB 960 card even with delivery. Must mean Pascale is imminent?

In performance terms, how does this stack up with say AMD R280 2GB card?

3GB?

Roughly equivalent, 280x beats the 960, and the 285 is thereabouts. The 280 may be a few frames down, but definitely not worthy of an upgrade unless you have £150 burning a hole in your pocket.

I will boot up the machine and confirm make and model tomorrow, think it's only 2GB
