Let's be honest here, you are flat out lying about ASYNC compute support.

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-async-compute-directx-12-oxide-games/

The 900 series will be getting ASYNC compute support, via drivers (software). This goes directly against your 'proof' that NVIDIA are forcing people to upgrade. Also this goes directly against your claim that next gen Pascal won't have it.

So no, your 'two years time' thing is a joke.

The Pascal series *will have ASYNC compute*. Either software or hardware, which road they choose we don't know.

But what we can't make an assumption on is how well it will perform compared to the ASYNC compute solution offered by AMD. You are guessing it will be better because they labeled it as 'hardware'.

Well, what about the difference in FreeSync and Gsync? Gsync variable refresh is done via hardware while FreeSync is done via software. Do you contend that FreeSync is worse than Gsync because of this?

http://wccftech.com/amd-freesync-nvidia-gsync-verdict/

Anyway, surely you won't agree, you'll find a way to smash NVIDIA and praise AMD. That's just what you do.

One more thing. FreeSync won't work on older graphics cards, but Gsync will work on cards all the way back to the 600 series.

Doesn't that sound like AMD are 'forcing' users to upgrade their graphics cards to take advantage of FreeSync? Where is your outcry for that? Or are you so blinded by your hatred for NVIDIA that you cannot see that both companies behave in very similar ways?

What's sickening is how you post lies, get called out, and then continue to lie about everything.

You literally typed the following on these very forums, in this very thread.

You don't even remember the dishonesty you type!

You say NVIDIA has us. No, you've got it wrong.

AMD has you. You've become a shill for their products, you are willing to lie and deceive fellow users on these forums, for whatever reason.

Surely, you can see this isn't unbiased, realistic, or even true? Non-asynced? False. Crazy efficiency gains? What unit is that in? Better VR? How do you know what Pascal or Polaris will actually yield? You are just bold face lying to everyone here.

Back on topic.

This is a great price for a mid range card that will do the majority of users a load of good to purchase. 4gb VRAM model at the lowest price I've seen shipped (if you are a member who gets free shipping at OCers)!

Wow, that sentence literally made me laugh.

He's the least informed person who posts on this forums. He never sources information and blindly attacks NVIDIA. He's stated that he is against NVIDIA for their business practices. Yet he ignores any similar practices by AMD.

This forum is about posting information about the deals.

Read Ferarri's post in this deal.

3 lies in such a short period off time.

Windows DX12 proof? What does that even mean? It's just libelous. NVIDIA demanding cash for its latest drivers???? NVIDIA haven't charged for driver, ever. And best price/performance? Not a single fact or source or review involved, he's just throwing mud.

I really don't want to engage in a negative post fest, but you are treating Ferrari100's posts as if they were truthful and thoughtful.

The 960 and the 380 are nearly identical with perfect hardware.

When you link the 380 with a mid to low end CPU, it falls well behind the 960. To say this isn't the best price/performance ratio is absurd. The 380 is the competition and even in a perfect scenario, it trades blows. If you remove any of those perfect scenarios -- CPU or PSU, you immediately fall into a bottleneck.

If you have a low end i5 and a 500 watt PSU, the 380 is an equal to the 960. If you don't, then the 960 is the superior GPU.

But here's the question. Why would you risk it? If these are neck and neck in the perfect i7/600w CPU scenario, why not just pass and take the 960 in case there is CPU optimization issues in future games? I certainly can't recommend a GPU that shows problems with mid range CPUs.

There's very little information about the next generation of GPU's, not enough to make an informed prediction of the future. All you can do is guess. Current GPU's aren't useful as a reference because they'll be an entirely new architecture and 16nm and hopefully designed around low level API's.

Your another one that's too busy playing the games instead of researching the hardware and your gonna look pretty silly in a few months because of it. you instantly assume NVidia will stay on top because they've been there for a few yrs so why research, as others have remarked it's people like you these company's love blind buying morons going by colour over money, quality and common sense, and all the time messing it up for the rest of us, listen do us all a favour take your hand of the controller, exit the game and do some research before you jump on to posts spouting your rubbish and looking for conspiracy's were there are none, several people on here all saying the same thing so instead of thinking hmmm maybe they have a point maybe I should look into this (as I did), but no you would rather come to the conclusion that it's just one person saying the same stuff only signed under different names, rotfl, my god that's funny, if I sound like others that's because like others we spent the time looking into it and reading the same facts, were all saying the same thing cause we know something you clearly don't, so saying I sound like Ferrari 100, I'd say thx, since that makes me just as well informed as it does him

As for the NVidia type thing that's not me that's how it corrects itself when you type it all lowercase, again with the laughter man my ribs hurt lol go back to your game or do some research.
you'll find your not as quick to jump to the green defence, geez it's just a gpu I don't care if it's purple or blue as long as its good price/performance this yr it happens to be going the red way that's all, maybe if you got as fired up over important stuff like politics & big business ripping us off in the U.K. we would all be better off but nobody wants to take a stand and fight for that, no but you will get all bent out of shape over a gpu company??
For what loyalty, to a company that gimps there cards, bribes to keep results hidden, lie through there teeth and general PR bull, on top of an on going higher price than amd, always higher than amd, you know I'm done wasting my time the internet is there not for porn but to learn to better yourself use it then maybe you won't come of like such a tool to everyone.

This isn't true.

You've got just as much google as I do.

And I've literally just showed you this isn't the case. I don't get it, are you afraid to admit it or something?

Top end GPUs have existed for ages, and even without accounting for inflation (ahem, you are forgetting that in 2000, 100 dollars is now 141!), they are the same/higher price!

http://www.in2013dollars.com/2000-dollars-in-2016?amount=100

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/graphics2

I mean, you really don't recall the Voodoo 5 6000 coming in at 500 pounds? (Inflation adjusted 575).

Seriously, I don't know how to continue this discussion, google is right there buddy, every graphics card generation is but a few words away. Each generation has had its high end graphics cards! I'm not talking insane high end like titan, but there has always been this high end set of gamer cards. You are just beginning to take note of them!

Radeon HD 6990 $699
AMD Radeon R9 295X2 $1499 (over 1000 pounds)

I can go on, but let's put it this way. This isn't new. I could go on for ages, but there has and will always be extreme top end graphics cards that cost upwards of 1000 pounds. From both sides. And from other companies, for non-games related graphics processing (matrox and a few others).

So let's not be ignorant of graphics cards history. This isn't new.

I don't hate nvidia as that's extreme and amd is not no angel of a company as NO company is. They are all ruthless as that's how they stay in business. We need amd in the competition to STOP a monopoly.
If nvidia and Intel were nearly bankrupt I would want people to buy those products as a monopoly with just amd is just as bad.

Very close but this is relative performance. Look at actual gaming benchmarks.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_980_Ti_Lightning/13.html

980 Ti leads most titles apart from 4K and slightly lower but that's because the games are GPU bound and the CPU overhead is less important here. The drivers really don't get on with lower resolutions it's not the hardware. Closer though.

We have to for future DX12 titles.

This is the norm. AMD's dedicated GPU market share doesn't change much, hasn't for years.

All this talk about Async compute when we have barely any games on the PC to compare it with. 1 DX12 game with a DX11 benchmark which isn't a great example of the future because it's an RTS. Before making claims like this we should all just wait for at least 1 AAA game to be released...

And VR. The minimum requirements for occulus is a 970 and a 290 which is fair. If it was a 970 and a 380 that would be a different story.

Videos showing slides of quotes and very little game benchmarks isn't all that useful and comparing Mantle to DX12 is completely irrelvant at this point. Mantle isn't the holy grail either if you've played games that support it. There's always problems like memory leaks and most of the time DX11 is the better choice. Thief is probably the only exception.

I'm all for AMD taking the lead, but it takes more than good hardware or ethics to do so, it takes a hell of a lot of marketing. And now we have GSync and FreeSync. Think of all the more NVIDIA dedicated GPU users that have bought a GSync monitor, they won't be going AMD anytime soon.

NVIDIA's top-end GPU (Titan X ) is then cut down (980 Ti) that still outperforms AMD's top-end GPU (Fury X ) it's just hard to see a future where AMD outperforms the Titan in games, unless you count multi-gpu cards like the Fury X-2 but that's a completely different situation and crossfire support is dwindling. DX12 could give multi-adapters more of a future, we have to wait for that as well.

AMD at Mid-range though looks to be positive for DX12. I'm surprised at some of the benchmarks showing the 390x outperfoming the 980 but just as much surprised that in some of these benchmarks it's outperforming the Fury as well, even at lower resolutions. Saying that, we need to wait for more DX12 games.

Not for long buddy, a different tune will be sung in 12 months. market share will be back to norm, but this will be a dominant year for amd, which is good for all imo, NVidia have dx11 but they never done anything else Microsoft said dx12 will never happen so NVidia sat back n smoked there cigars, now we have dx12 which is in effect actually a clone of mantle something amd know a lot about since it's there's, now that mixed with the experience they've had for years with mantle and there tie in and learning process with the xboxone and ps4, with asynce, the work done on using multi cores at the hardware level instead of just using drivers to get around it, means that this is amd's year NVidia will kick it into gear they'll have to which again is gd for us all but amd will have the market for around 18 months - 2 years at least, hard to believe I know but it won't be long now you'll see, and to be clear I don't red or green I care about best card for my money if that's NVidia fine i'll take one but it will be amd this year.

I've posted this video on another thread but people should really look into b4 spouting what they think they know, throw your own money away but don't throw your rederick around for others to invest poorly, watch listen and pay attention to the video hell watch it twice, there's a lot of very good points and telling stuff including the NVidia tactics.

ASync compute is not suppose to be a game changer for AMD. It is not proprietary tech and either business can incorporate their own versions of it.
Having said that, due to Nvidia neglecting to incorporate the tech so they could keep profit margins higher may play into AMD hands when dx12 titled and VR games arrive. Oculus already prefer AMD GPUs because of it.
The consequence of such will rest on Nvidia lack of foresight.

Nvidia own 80% of the discrete GPU market. Let's say you're a game developer. Are you going to rely heavily on features that 80% of your market can't use? I'm not saying that there will be no effect on performance but the idea that developers will purposefully nerf the game experience for 80% of the market is ridiculous.

You also assume that DX11 - where Nvidia drivers are faster - is going to tail-off very quickly. According to the Steam hardware survey, Windows 10 accounts for around 25% of the market. Are game developers going to lock out the other 75%?

Nvidia's complete dominance of the dGPU market is a bit unsettling to be honest, but it is what it is.

980 is a non-starter of a card at this point, it's price/performance is absolutely dire compared to the power provided by the AMD 390/390X, and the 970. The release of the 980ti to counter the Fuy X effectively rendered the 980 useless unless it's at a very specific price point you're looking at. There are some exciting times coming up next year in the GPU market so if you can stand waiting a bit longer I would, if HBM2 trickles down into the mid/high-end enthusiast tier everyone will be happy!
