firmware updates might have solved it but the DSL version was considered inferior to this.

It's a good price for this router but lots of people don't need such wifi speeds or the features. Probably worth it in a crowded neighbourhood...

Have one, love it. Paid £105 and thought that was a steal so HOT HOT HOT.
Replaced my crappy SKY SR101 firbre router, never looked back since.
Another thumbs up for merlin (dont forget to a donate a few quid if you like his firmware).
2.4ghz range could be better, but the 5ghz is so fast I never use 2.4 anymore unless its a really old device.
