The current licence holders for The world at War have uploaded the entire series on their YouTube channel (available in 1080p).
A stunning series and possibly the best documentary series ever produced. First hand interviews, footage and sound effects. This would be ideal for teachers etc covering WW2 or in the run up to remembrance day (just to remind little Billy how lucky he is).
This is currently being aired on Yesterday (freeview channel 19), but you are able to watch these at your own leisure without adverts.
BONUS You don't need to pay for a TV licence to watch this as it is online. Why pay the BBC to watch a TV series made by ITV 45 years ago! ;-)

Anyone else pick up on the irony of posting a TV series about learning lessons from war/ fighting yet seems to fall on deaf ears when fights break out regularly on HUKD over increasingly petty, trivial comments. :man:
Not on the same scale on body count level but plenty of lasting damage can still be done with words.

Exactly my little flower pot. To watch this as it is being broadcast on Yesterday (freeview channel 19) you would have to have a TV licence you'll find.
And yes as I say it was made for ITV so you wont need a TV licence to watch it on YouTube as I clearly say.
You have confused yourself it seems to appear.

Yes. I live under a bridge and don't allow people without TV licences to pass.

It is not necessary to have a TV licence to watch this series on YouTube. What point exactly are you trying to make? Apart from anything else, this series was made by Thames Television which was an ITV company. Are you a TV Licensing troll?

A very sobering series.

It doesn't matter who made the video :L As long as you're watching it legally not broadcast live from TV then even it it was created by the BBC you wouldn't need a license. And while you probably already knew that, I don't think stuarthanley was trying to say what you said was factually wrong. But moreso needless to say and guaranteed to spur up disputes. It's a youtube video, TV license is irrelevant.

I just think its the way you worded "you dont need a tv licence to watch this as its online" i suppose in one way correct just as long as your not watching as is broadcast and not a pre-recorded show.

Putting aside the silly squabbling in the previous posts - this is a brilliant find. I know that buying the whole series on dvd is very expensive, even now. This is the definitive series documentary about the second world war, it paints a raw picture with no holds barred. The theme music has stayed with me in my memory. Thankyou OP. :innocent:

you could use a youtube downloader and download the videos, and save back to a cloud or dvd for posterity. Just in case they ever decided to pull them off youtube but i doubt it.
