It doesn't matter who made the video :L As long as you're watching it legally not broadcast live from TV then even it it was created by the BBC you wouldn't need a license. And while you probably already knew that, I don't think stuarthanley was trying to say what you said was factually wrong. But moreso needless to say and guaranteed to spur up disputes. It's a youtube video, TV license is irrelevant.

I just think its the way you worded "you dont need a tv licence to watch this as its online" i suppose in one way correct just as long as your not watching as is broadcast and not a pre-recorded show.

Putting aside the silly squabbling in the previous posts - this is a brilliant find. I know that buying the whole series on dvd is very expensive, even now. This is the definitive series documentary about the second world war, it paints a raw picture with no holds barred. The theme music has stayed with me in my memory. Thankyou OP. :innocent:

Great reminder of WW2 , a warning Trump and, more important, the waiting hawks are coming to your cinema near you, no licence fee is required to watch it live as it happens in real surround sound.

This whole series had been around on youtube at 720p, BTW, I think you don't gain any resolution details from these old footages in 1080p (compared to 720p). Mind you, I could not see any significant details between 480p and 720p of these old footages too, you do see a tiny difference in the newer commentators footages though.

Great documentary. If it weren't for the Soviet Union we would have lost the war. That is one of the sobering conclusions of this documentary that we like to forget in this country.

I own this on blu-ray and it's a must watch, fantastic that it's now available to stream. Highly recommend that anyone who has an interest in history watches it!

Any particular reasoning as to why I'm "clueless" for stating proven facts? Or are you one of those BBC executives who covered up Savile's antics? Or in bed with the Bush asswiping Blair (or as he should be called, B-liar)?

I guess I just think people must be really blind and/or stupid to not see how much benefit we garner as a nation by having institutions such as the BBC.
Jeremy Clarkson sealed his own fate. Don't bemoan the BBC for ditching him. As for Saville - he is far from the only person in public life to commit atrocities. The BBC should have done more; but let's not be so silly as to wish for the failure of the BBC because of past failings.
The BBC is the envy of the world. It has given us Dr Who, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools & Horses, Question Time, Panorama, Newsnight, University Challenge, Strictly, Blue Planet, Human Planet, Big Cat Diary, Cuckoo, Peaky Blinders, War & Peace, Pride & Prejudice, Top GearThe Sky at Night, Horizon and a huge myriad of socially enriching and often commercially successful programming.
Yes, the Saville thing was a disgrace...and the BBC should have done more. But be careful what you wish for. The BBC does things that no other commercial broadcaster can deliver. It adds huge benefit to our economy by giving outlets to creative industries that would otherwise have no opportunity to achieve what they do.
There is a reason why the UK music industry is where it is right now. That reason is the BBC...offering things like 6 Music, Radio 1 Presents, Radio 3 & Radio 4 --- all of which contribute hugely to the rich tapestry of this country.

You may wish for a commercially driven country such as the United States -- but I personally find the BBC's output to be well worth the licence fee. & much like the NHS, I fecking hate the Tories for trying to rip them apart.

I mean pro-russian ballast(or pro murican in murican documents), for example in 16 part is clearly mentioned how russians treated civilians in Germany, or in part about Kursk (so underestimated in west history of WW2) finished the biggest tank's battle without winner as was clearly proved just because open archives.
What did you point on is now a standard in similar documents in good way or bad. It's hard to create 45 min without showing same black and white shots like 1000x before . And ever harder to keep attention of new generation to study history. World in War is great document. One of my favorite one, but in that time were a lot of information locked in governments archives. Recently I saw documents about japs in china and some shots even I can't watch and that's after I saw uncensored shots from concentration camps.
Even after 70 years are a lot unclear. Was battle of Britain real attempt to invade or to cover preparations for Barbarossa? Why rails to Auschwitz concentration camp was not bombed, if was well know what's going on there from 1942? Will WW2 start without Munich Agreement ?

Just started watching and got to Episode 2 last night and it has been removed this morning! Yet the rest of the series remains.
