Is this cheap for vinyl, honest question as I do use it but just buy from local second hand place for about £2 average for old stuff that plays as well as it did when it was made by old I mean the 1980s or Jazz and yes I know these are new but just curious if this is the going rate now ? also by 12" vinyl do you mean 12" single as anyone who grew up with vinyl would automatically think or is it an album?

The above are all albums.
Anything below £10 for a new 12" vinyl album these days and I'd say you're doing pretty well. Most of the latest releases on vinyl range from £15 - £25.

So to be clear when you say 12" you actually mean LP rather than 12" being usually a remix single when this stuff first did the rounds

That's still the common terminology. 12" and 7" almost always refer to singles. Saying a 12" LP is pretty redundant since all LPs are 12". But people still insist on saying "vinyls" and then get arsey if corrected so what can you do.

Considering what brand new vinyl costs these days the prices are cheap. I looked up some of the albums i bought around 10 years back and they cost more today than they did when they were first released

Thanks for the info  wish I still had my betamax video recorder, it will be worth a fortune at this rate

I'd like to know where you can get decent second hand vinyl LPs for 2 quid. A few years ago you could pick them up cheap but now everyone's got wise with the vinyl revival and you'd be hard pushed to find much decent for less than a tenner. A lot of new pressings are at least 18 quid with many 25.

not really up with Vinyl prices but Urban Outfitters seem to have a few vinyls on sale currently e.g. Prince: If I Was Your Girlfriend Vinyl Record £6 (postage is free with £30 spend)
I've started to invest in Vinyl again, the only issue I have is that most of the new LP's are made from Digitally remastered sources. So you don't get the original analogue sound of the old albums.
This could just be me.

I've recently been buying original Pink Floyd Vinyl for similar prices on eBay, I do prefer the analogue over reproduced digital.

Some of these are great prices, especially as some of them include the AutoRip, which means it gives you a digital copy too if you have the Amazon music player connected to your account.

great prices but is there any way to get around the extra delivery charge as a prime member?

Any recommendations for a turntable? Preferably with a pre amp built in for £300? So far I've like the Sony x500 and Denon 300f

I'd buy a used Hifi from eBay. I recently picked up a Kenwood M97 from eBay for £100. A new needle and a cassette heads and it sounds as good as the day it was made in 1992. I've also added a Revo Axis 3 which brings it more up to date with bluetooth connection, iPod lightning dock. Dab, Dab + and internet radio. Which now costs £99.99 from Amazon, just connect it from the speaker output on the Revo and connect to the Hifi through the phono connections.

i've looked into it quite a lot the past couple of weeks. If you can stretch another £50 you can get the Pro-ject Debut Carbon (299) and Pro-ject Phone MM box (£60) from Sevenoaks Hifi. Alternatively the Rega Planar 1(248) with the Pro-ject MM box (60) or the Rega Phono preamp (80). There are a few deals around - even the NAD C556 (199) and Pro-ject should make a good deal.

You just beat me to posting the exact same thing about the Pro-Ject equipment . This is what I have and it’s fantastic . Don’t go with the Sony or or Denon . You won’t be disappointed

Another vote here for a pro-Ject turntable. One you get used to the rubber band they are great for the price and look cool as well!
