Potentially work on both 8/8+ and the two colours they stock. Price on title based on S8 vs iPhone 5s
added: I used box.co.uk as they have a shop in Sutton Coldfield in Brum. Also the price match was to pay the fulll price and email the PM team to refund within 5 working days
Yesterday I went to look for a good outright sim free S8 deal and whilst looking at their own site’s offering (iPhone/Samsung old trade trade in with £100 extra credit - or the old phone takes £15x off for a new S8/S8+ on interest free cost spreading basis)
..anyway as didn’t want to have another unnecessary credit line I had a look at their rebate option (same principle but you basically send in a working phone on their list after your purchase ————— from JL’s link to Samsung Recycling site Trade in device value*

So if you buy a new S8/S8 plus from JL, Argos, Very (or their more pricy Littlewoods) you can retrospectively sell your old phone after 28 days to get the said value of the phone - which is a bit better than say Apple’s own valuation on their old iPhones.
Now then I thought surely JL’s full price must be able to be matched somehow - and cheekily I found a company in Birmingham that has a store and selling the S8 for £574 or something. That in itself is about £130 of “saving” vs Samsung’s price tag. So if you have an iPhone 5 or above that at least take another £130 off, making the S8 £409 with my actually good condition iPhone 5S trade in.
Obviously higher trade in value if you want to give them your iPhone 7 Plus but you might as well sell it on eBay or something
One can argue you can get the 950/955 S8 at eGlobalCentral around £460 and probably a bit more choices with bigger memory possible. although I sincerely believe it’s a proper business in HK, the thought of getting slammed on whatever the potential import duty and handling fee is not ideal, for me. And neither the bigger built in memory nor dual sim models serve much purpose to me either.
I did prefer the Coral blue which none of the 4 said retailers stock though :-(
Oh well hope this is useful for some wanting the S8/+.
———— for those find the above beating round the bush a bit - it’s simple:
1) make sure you have one of the old phones on the Samsung trade in list as stated in one of the posts 2) fill in a JL price match form - I used box.co.uk as my comp website/shop as they have one 3) If its a success then likely you need to buy the phone at whatever the price on JL website and email with your ‘case number’ so that they can refund the difference to you in 5 working days 4) after 28days go the Samsung Recycling site to claim the £100+what’s the price they state to pay for your phone

Really depends on what model of the two (s8/s8+) and what old phone you have so my example was for the S8 which is listed at £689 or something and fill in a claim form for price match to £574.
that doesn’t take away the Samsung trade in bonus promotion (£100+value of old phone on the list - must be working however) which you can claim 28 days after the purchase on their Samsung Recycling website with proof of purchase and IMEI of both new and old phone

Just a coincidence, eGC just sent out an email for extra 5% discount. With code GIVEME5..if that’s what you prefer to buy from!

I bought mine (s8) from very what I can work out is that Samsung are doing a promotion where you can recycle your old phone after owning the new one a month (28 days)- you then fill in all details on there site and post off getting £100 back but from what I read it sounded like I got £65 for my phone (s5) Plus £100? Maybe read it wrong but the £100 back will come in handy paying new phone off.

thats the sell now buy later with £100 Samsung.com credit. I was tempted to get the 10% off as new customer with credit account but just want a phone outright and the price match make the post more worth while I believe

Do Very price match?
Would it be possible to pricematch with whatever store you used for John Lewis and then get the 10% off for new customer and the claim rebate from Samsung?

Not that I’m aware of but if you have a new credit account you get 10% off phone. JL never offer discount code....so unfortunately no :-(

Sorry that IS the promotion! And you got 10% discount with their new customer offer? Was tempted by that as said

Emailed the price match form. Mrs has a S7 which would sell for £270-£300 optimistically thinking.
Samsung would give me £300 without the hassle of selling.
Lets see what JL say. Have they agreed to your price match op?

IF you want the S8 (black), I have a case number open for the refund - if you fail to get it matched somehow, by all mean DM me. Just that my other half didn’t fancy a new phone...what a waste of my time...
oh you do have to buy at full price on JL website first and they refund with 5 working days.

I think it'd be helpful to update the original post to confirm you'll need to request John Lewis match box.co.uk
Anyone know what the s8 trades in for I want the s8 plus

Hmmm I definitely wouldn’t trade in that and don’t think it’s an option either. You might as well sell it on eBay if condition is good?? I think the size is marginal and initially I was exclusively looking for the plus only but realise 5.8” vs 6.2” is tiny...
again in I think the plus version internationally (diff model in diff market)have more hardware difference. Ie dual sim, memory and processor but the former two are a tad pointless as only potentially business phones user would find dual sim useful. Not in my industry as work phone is customised to record everything and memory...well a 128gb micro sd cost not a lot nowadays and removable and if I remember right you can only either the have second sim or sad card in S8+). Processors, there are two type (snapdragon and the other...not an expert) but arguable marginal in terms to performance. Just my 2p

Difficult to write an essay with much variations on the ultimate price you need to pay depending on what you want to buy and what you have to trade in - on a mobile is a task for me! added some simple step to step’s on original post for you

It's not your English mate. It just seems long winded.
But tbf I've figured it out -
1. I buy price matched S8 from JL £574 2. I claim for and send my iPhone 6 to Samsung and get £250 cashback
Making an S8 £324. Super hot deal

Correct but you do need to part the asking price first on their website and need the reference they give you to prove the purchase before they refund the difference. They promise 5 working days it will only take

1. Choose either S8 or S8+ 2. Submit JL price match against box.co.uk/pro…rue 3. Purchase via JL 4. Trade in a Samsung Galaxy 4 / iPhone 5 (or newer) at samsungrecycle.co.uk/offer
Example: S8 Black from Box = £574, price match at JL and trade in Galaxy S4 for £32 (+£100 bonus) making the S8 £442
