With the likes of lidl/aldi (food/toiletries)....b&m/home bargains (drinks/branded discount)... Amazon /AO(household goods incl electronics)...etc is Costco even worth it?

Many Costco sites now include a petrol station, which is usually the cheapest fuel in the area. So maybe?

If you have one nearby with a fuel court I'd say it's worth it due to their low petrol/diesel prices. Some of their special offers are good value, and I'd say their clothing is pretty good quality.
I wouldn't get a membership purely on regular food prices though, personally.

It is not bad although I don't know where they got the £71 membership fee from?.. normally £25...at least two years ago when I was a member

It's £27 now, including VAT. Ours is up for renewal but contemplating if its really worth it. They did give us £10 online voucher though for renewing!

which branch did you renew with and which type of membership? I just placed an order online - could have done with a voucher!

It's the trade membership. We received a letter from Costco about renewing our membership on 1st Oct along with a £10 online spend voucher. Yet to renew.

I recently signed up for an 'Individual Membership', total cost inc. VAT was £33.60... This offer is nice and the freebies are a nice touch. £28 is a good price, however as hashman previously commented... it's not necessarily worth it.
If you've got a business (or buy for a business) then it might be worth it to buy large quantities. However for casual shoppers like me you'll just end up with too much of one thing, unless you have a large family.
The one thing I really shop there for is Kirkland signature bottled spring water, 48 bottles for just over £3. Worth it for £33.60 a year? No... but I had to try it.

I have membership - definitely not worth it for their regular prices on most things (a few things are cheap; bottled water and water softener tablets, plus a few things the kids love that you don't find elsewhere).
What can be worthwhile is their leaflet deals on things like Andrex from today - typically we stock up on those types of things, plus kids birthday cakes and massive packs of stuff if you're entertaining.
Wines can be cheap sometimes (Campo Viejo Gran Reserva for example from time to time).
No fililng stations in London - area unfortunately.

Dunno how close you are to lakeside but they have a petrol station there. I tend to go down just too fill up my car quite a drive from east London but worth it as I can get my other bits and bobs. Tottenham is my closer one but no petrol station so I rarely head that way and I don't think they have the space to make one there either.

Thanks, appreciate the thought - NW London to Lakeside isn't worth my time I'm afraid.

I thought Costco opened up their membership requirements so practically anyone can apply?
Doubt I can use this anyway as it's for new customers. Heat though as Costco is great.

Agree with previous posters, Petrol Station is a winner, pity they havant built one at Watford yet. I used to enjoy stocking up at Costco but agree again with previous posters times have changed, Amazon and all manner of delivery services for food have made it less appealing. I reckon eventually Amazon or another big player will acquire Costco and use them as local distribution centres.

Exactly - have you heard of them planning one there as you say 'yet'? They have the space and it's their HQ!
It the only shop where kids don't kick up a fuss actually - I don't mind shopping there with them as they are on the lookout for tasting the foods!
We did well picking up the Roald Dahl box set for under a tenner a few months ago, and Lego advent calendars the other day.
