No chance with dodgy Gearbest 'couldn't care less' attitude to customer complaints and problems.

Yes, Gearbest isn't really the place to spend more than about fifty quid otherwise it gets a little like going down to the bookies with your money

Hi, can you tell me your experience? I'm starting to feel nervous now, as I await the Xiaomi phone I purchased through one of these deals here. It's been a month now.

Start by going to your order history and checking the order tracking to see where it's up to. Most things I order from China come in about 10 days. A month is definitely slow.

Thanks for the tip. But just as I was posting this yesterday, my £200 package arrived! So I have a 100% record with Gearbest ;-)
Hope that the other posts (not yours) about Gearbest are just scaremongers just because packages are being sent from outside the EU.

Its £125 at Aliexpress, but I have no idea if their 'buyer protection ' works. Can it be worse than ebay's? Probably.

Aliexpress are pretty terrible. I've dealt with customer service twice. Neither time made any sense, they didn't seem rational at all but on the second time in what was a basically open and shut case they still found in favour of the seller despite the goods being nothing like the description. Credit card company sorted it out. Basically it was fraud and illegal. Aliexpress, Gearbest, Ebay, Paypal are all pretty terrible I think but most credit card companies are decent I find. I don't think these companies really look at the evidence they just try to find a middle position even if one side is pretty much fraudulant and there are massive issues with their claims.

AliExpress is like Amazon Marketplace - you need to ensure that you buy from a reputable seller if you're buying more expensive items. I've used HK Goldway several times in the past and they've been excellent. But just like Amazon Marketplace I'd be wary about using known / untrusted sellers though.

It's cheap but the jumper 3 Pro offers quite a lot more for the extra outlay
It'll suffice for budget video playback I guess

It likely suffices for a college PC. The input is 5V which is useful for battery connections. Guess that is the norm now for non proprietary manufacturers.

Ha. You're joking, right? Every college kid has a Mac.

Only ones that know SFA about what value for money means. Macs were king. In the 90's.

Currys are doing HP deals at £150, similar spec.

2 1/2 lbs weight with 14" 1080p screen?
Sure I believe you! This has an alumium base shell which makes it light.

It's the same processor found in the many cheap Windows 8.1 tablets from a few years ago ( such as the £40 Linx 7). Served a purpose then but not sure you'd want it now.

Even then, that purpose was the bundled Office 365 subscription. Says it all.

Yeah, the Bay trail Atom 3735F in this is just rubbish. 2GB RAM in a Windows environment is awful as well in terms of performance. Even basic multitasking is slow.
Best to skip this laptop all together as people are just wasting their money. Better to go for an Apollo Lake / 6GB setup instead.

One of my pals used those cheap chinese made thingie and crashed in no time. He managed to get a second one (thanks to Gearbest) but that one went back in a black box as well!! This is a very proximal experience and I thought I should warn you. It is a great price for a punt if you have the time to deal with the customer care etc..
