No chance with dodgy Gearbest 'couldn't care less' attitude to customer complaints and problems.

Yes, Gearbest isn't really the place to spend more than about fifty quid otherwise it gets a little like going down to the bookies with your money

Hi, can you tell me your experience? I'm starting to feel nervous now, as I await the Xiaomi phone I purchased through one of these deals here. It's been a month now.

Start by going to your order history and checking the order tracking to see where it's up to. Most things I order from China come in about 10 days. A month is definitely slow.

Thanks for the tip. But just as I was posting this yesterday, my £200 package arrived! So I have a 100% record with Gearbest ;-)
Hope that the other posts (not yours) about Gearbest are just scaremongers just because packages are being sent from outside the EU.

Its £125 at Aliexpress, but I have no idea if their 'buyer protection ' works. Can it be worse than ebay's? Probably.

Aliexpress are pretty terrible. I've dealt with customer service twice. Neither time made any sense, they didn't seem rational at all but on the second time in what was a basically open and shut case they still found in favour of the seller despite the goods being nothing like the description. Credit card company sorted it out. Basically it was fraud and illegal. Aliexpress, Gearbest, Ebay, Paypal are all pretty terrible I think but most credit card companies are decent I find. I don't think these companies really look at the evidence they just try to find a middle position even if one side is pretty much fraudulant and there are massive issues with their claims.

AliExpress is like Amazon Marketplace - you need to ensure that you buy from a reputable seller if you're buying more expensive items. I've used HK Goldway several times in the past and they've been excellent. But just like Amazon Marketplace I'd be wary about using known / untrusted sellers though.

It's cheap but the jumper 3 Pro offers quite a lot more for the extra outlay
It'll suffice for budget video playback I guess

It likely suffices for a college PC. The input is 5V which is useful for battery connections. Guess that is the norm now for non proprietary manufacturers.

It's the same processor found in the many cheap Windows 8.1 tablets from a few years ago ( such as the £40 Linx 7). Served a purpose then but not sure you'd want it now.

Even then, that purpose was the bundled Office 365 subscription. Says it all.

Yeah, the Bay trail Atom 3735F in this is just rubbish. 2GB RAM in a Windows environment is awful as well in terms of performance. Even basic multitasking is slow.
Best to skip this laptop all together as people are just wasting their money. Better to go for an Apollo Lake / 6GB setup instead.

One of my pals used those cheap chinese made thingie and crashed in no time. He managed to get a second one (thanks to Gearbest) but that one went back in a black box as well!! This is a very proximal experience and I thought I should warn you. It is a great price for a punt if you have the time to deal with the customer care etc..

Just wanted to share my experience with gearbest... i've bought 5 or 6 phones ranging from £50 to £300. Dozens of cheaper items.Never had any problems. Customer service has been good on the occasions Ive had to contact them. Never had to pay any import charges.

This is an old 2nd gen machine that's just poor in every way. It's like the Atom based netbooks from years ago. This is cheap for a reason. You think that you're saving money, but you're not really as you're wasting it on a machine that is basically junk.
COLD for me. Wasting money is not saving money.

There are lighter 14" laptops out there, and those will have decent build quality and primum materials (like the Lonovo Carbon X1). This will be plastic that scratches and flexes. But very cheap device, rather spend a bit more for better quality though

Might help if you researched the product or even read the posts. And plastic is heavy!
Picard123 to LadyEleanor

Not even close. Hell, there are 15.6" laptops alot lighter than this!
LadyEleanor to Picard123
22 Aug 17#35
Name them then! Even a smaller Macbook Air is heavier by 100 grams.
Then there are others such as Onda, Thinkpad X1 etc that come in at around 1.1-1.2kg. There are also loads of 13.3" laptop that also come within that 1.1-1.2kg weight class.
This 4 year old spec Yepo is nowhere close to be being the World's Lightest 14" but you do win the prize for World's Greatest Exaggeration!
LadyEleanor to Picard123
22 Aug 17#37
Fair enough. It is fairly obscure here. That beats the old XPS 14ultrabook which weighed in at the more usual 2KG. The LG has a full HD screen which is good as that spec is not guaranteed on many high priced items. But at 1100%+ the price of this, 1080p has to be the bare minimum.
LadyEleanor to Picard123
23 Aug 17#43
Nope. The £1000 Asus is new and I expectly rightly claimed to be the worlds lightest at the start of the year, only just superceded by the Gram. Look at the original post and you will see I did not exaggerate. I just happens that high end Windows stuff falls below the radar these days.
Horses for courses, this unit has its uses, its a shame there are not faster options, unlike the similar 737s.Watch the Youtube review of that, it proving quite acceptable.

Are you in denial? You posted this deal only a few days ago, not at the start of the year.
This Yepo is still the not the "world's lightest 14", which is the silly clickbait addition you yourself have added the title even though it's clearly incorrect.
The laptop is also utter junk with old, low performing parts.

my only concern with this deal is that it is from gearbest and from reading other people's experience with gearbest you shouldn't risk more than £20 with them at most?

May suit some eg. old folk who never move their laptop and who need big text/icons on screen due to poor(er) eyesight but that machine is brick like, has a crappy screen, slow HDD, no USB3.0 and battery is likely to be shot (only 5 hours when new, so I hate to think what it's like after 7.5 years of use...) There are better deals to be had than that.

Heres the link to the popukar but overpriced Windows, no license box that has this same chipset and spec but without the power or screen.
Yes, you cant get much slower, but you cant find anything as portable in the same larger size. It is adequate for running the basics like MS Office.
