Most powerful automation app for Android had just been reduced from £2.99 to just 89p, well worth it in my option.
Just recently got a UI overhaul and rarely on sale.
Total Automation, From Settings to SMS.
* Triggers: App, Time, Day, Location, Hard/Soft State, Event, Shortcut, Widget, Timer, Plugins * Actions: 200+ built-in, plugin support * Tasks: loops, variables, conditions * Scenes: design your own screen overlays * App Creation: create your own standalone apps to share or sell! (Android 2.3+)
And so many more, possibilities are endless!

Stupid question, does this require root at all?

The FAQ addresses this question. The answer is not a simple one

Does not need root, however root will allow you to do more things. For my requirements I don't need root and been using for a number of years. Great app

Fantastic app! I paid a few quid for it and thought it was worth it, let alone 89p!

Is it still worth buying this now that we have IFTTT?

Yes, they do very different things. IFTTT connects up events and actions from various online services, Tasker connects states/events and actions on your phone.
A few examples of things I've got mine set up to do: * If I have headphones on or am in the car, text messages will be read out * Loudly reminds me to get off the train (over my headphones) as I approach my stop - having slept through it before! * If I've not remembered to plug my phone in to charge overnight it shuts down all non-essential services * Silences my phone when I'm at work
Very powerful app but needs a bit of tech sense to get the most out of it.

Thanks for the information - but IFTTT connects states/events and actions on your phone too. In fact, as a commuter, I currently use it for almost all the examples you listed :-)

Hmm. Do I need Tasker? Nope. Will I buy it....what's google rewards credit for if you don't use it?! I had a hacked version years ago but never put the effort in to work out how to get the most out of it.

Ditto  . Just got this and the office pro for 10p. Very unlikely to use them but it's always good to have apps in the library for future use.

I was looking at that too! But I think google docs will do all I need on mobile - I need to stop adding apps to my phone! I just put a custom ROM on my Sammy Note 4 and want to try to get the most out of the battery life - at least I can hibernate these new apps with greenify...
