Will I have anything spoilt if I play through this before the original trilogy properly? I played ME1 to completion and loved that but I would rather save the best for last.

If you want to "save the best for last", you'll want to save Mass Effect 2 for last...

This wasn't as good as ME1. Play ME2 and ME3, enjoy them and the epic story, then play this just to see how they managed to balls it up.

Nothing of the original trilogy was spoilt from what I remember. There's a few references to characters from the original trilogy but not much.
I would finish playing the original trilogy first as the characters are better but the combat not as good. Andromeda has the best combat of the lot but the plot and your squad mates are largely forgettable. I still enjoyed it though but I usually just read the text and speed through the conversations.

It's a separate storyline.
It's dead. No more DLCs, story missions or bug fixes.
Watch this b4 purchase.
In short. This was just a money grab by EA. They hired bunch of PC SJW's to make this contributing to lot of it's problems

Great game. People just jumped on the hating bandwagon. I enjoyed it very much. Bargain price.

So nothing from the original trilogy is referenced? I only want to play this first as I want to experience the series "go out" on a high as opposed to disappointing mediocrity.

There are so many good games to play, you should just pretend this doesnt exist and play ME2 & 3 such brilliant games. When they are done you can then play other good games. Whats the point of playing a mediocre game when you can spend less playing brilliant games?

The mission to Andromeda set off part way through the original ME storylines, Shepherd et al are mentioned in passing but they left our galaxy before the Reapers and Collectors.
