Is this 10bit, RGBwhatever, has ghosting issuesetc? And do I need to care? I want a new TV but every time I see one I like, it gets slammed for one thing or another?

Anybody please share your experience with LG RGBW TV?. Does it really matters??

It depends whether you want true 4k or not. The RGBW panel means it's not, as a quarter of the sub pixels are white rather than RGB. Put the TV next to an LG that isn't (I think it's big brother the 55SJ850V isn't an RGBW panel) then you'll notice the difference in motion. However, on it's own in your front room I still think you'd be happy with the picture it gives. Personally, I'd wait for a few months for the non RGBW models (or ideally an OLED but that will be a longer wait) to come down in price and go for one of those.

Damn, that was NOT the answer I wanted to hear!!!! :kissing_heart: I kind of guessed that was the best way forward for me, but when OLED comes down there's going to be something else that makes that look crap...... and I've got the new TV bug now!!! :sunglasses:

Haha sorry! Maybe go and see the TV in the flesh and see what you think? The picture is still very good it's just that the specs mean it doesn't have the required number of RGB sub-pixels that a 4k UHD TV should have.

In all seriousness, I appreciate your advice, you cant ask in places like Currys as they just want to sell them so its good to speak to people who will help without motive

He didn't answer your question, he was just going over the ways that you might theoretically notice it (although Motion is a new one on me, I'm not sure by what mechanism fewer pixels means worse motion, I've never noticed a problem on Full HD TVs with a three quarters of the pixels missing).

This is what I mean, its like "analysis paralysis", I ALWAYS over research and over think things, it took me 6mths to buy a new bike!!!

Go down to your local AV shop and pick the one that you feel offers the best picture for the money. Job done. The internet is a lousy way to make the final decision on purchases like a mid-range TV. Familiarise yourself with the market online, but picture quality in TVs at this price comes down to the best balance of compromises and not how advanced the technology is.
That depends on why they're buying a 4K TV, what they want from it and which trade-offs in picture quality bother them.
It's like cars. There's no single best car model out there. They're all good and there are some models that will be the best choice for more people than other models, but no single model you can point to and say 'this one suits all buyers'.
I'd expect this TV to suit people who want a rounded television with reasonable interface and sound that's mostly used in a well lit room. It's not a TV for home theatre setups due to it's relatively low contrast and it's not a TV for those who want to be early adopters of HDR due to it's slow and coarse local dimming system. The former group have alternatives at this price, the latter group should be spending more, waiting or reassessing what they want.

Just FYI, you won't be finding a decent 4k panel for £700 quid, you need to pay at least 1k

This TV is a grand with all others sellers so does that mean if we buy from them the picture will be better lol
The prices are getting better all the time. You will need to wait until next year to get a 2017 set for a steal, as many did with the 2016 B6 & C6. There's nothing better than OLED out there.

I have the 49" version and it's outstanding. I have not seen a single issue with it, Sky Sports UHD and Netflix 4k look amazing. FYI, it currently comes with 6 months Netflix premium for free

Cheers, I think that every non OLED set seems to have some issue or another, I guess it's about how much you can tolerate? Our current LCD set is OK, it's just a bit small (40"..... small, how things have changed!!! ), at night when you have the lights off its like a night light, surely this would be visiblybetter?

I have the sj850v and use it in a conservatory in a bright room it's very good, the webos is brilliant no lag and everything seem to just work unlike older smart TV the magic remote is excellent with voice commands. But in a dark room the blacks are not so black but only noticeable when the whole screen is black or you have bars at the top and bottom. I have to give it 10/10 for features, and 7.5 for picture but that's only because of the low light picture, in a bright room 8.5 hope this helps. Oh and for the rgbw thing, unless you are going to be watching the pixels under a microscope I think you will be fine.
