When it was released it had the best camera tested on any smartphone, and now it's got the 2nd best camera according to DXOMark. I agree prices of mobile phones are a bit insane, but still a very good phone, although the design of the phone is horrible with those massive bezels and lack of a premium feel/design.
Its true, but this was an android product priced as an apple product. the totally lost their way from the origins of the nexus line

"priced as an apple product" does that mean they are talking the mick like apple have for years?

What exactly do you mean by 'the origins of the Nexus line? I paid £549 for my 16GB Nexus S seven years ago. The Original Nexus One I imported from America cost around that too. Google made *two* cheap Nexus phones in partnership with LG - the Nexus 4 and 5 - but the three phones preceding it and all phones afterwards have been priced at a premium. That's two out of eight for a budget price, and one (the Nexus 5X) for a mid-range price.
It makes me laugh how those two LG phones made people believe that all other Nexus before were also cheap, and that Nexus means - or meant - cheap and cheerful.
When you think about it, the entry level Pixel is actually a reasonable price when you put it next to a 16GB Nexus S 7 years earlier - it's only gone up by £50.

It's about to be superceded by the "Pixel 2" in a couple of month's time. (But rumour has it Google have followed Apple, by removing the headphone socket).

DO you remember Googles first phone the G1? That didnt have a headphone jack. People seem to forget about this
But...I WILL be getting a Pixel 2

Considered by many to be the best android phone in 2016. It would have been a huge seller at this price. However, I do accept that there are now a handful of better Android's out there and so £400 is only a fair price rather than a bargain.

That's like saying the best smartphones are the Apple iPhone 7 or Samsung S8, it's a load of bullocks.
The best smartphones are (some of the better) Chinaphones. Only a sheep would pay for something like this.

Found it on eBay (refurbished obviously) for £315 in 'good' condition for 32GB. 13 month warranty. IMEI checked via Checkmend as well so it won't be blacklisted. Find it here.
Tweedie to cocogumbo
4 Aug 17#13
er, you can still be blacklisted I think. checkmed will only check the current state, but won't protect you being blacklisted upto 2 years later if its a contract phone. the orginal owner can just report it stolen or failing to pay contract which the network provider can black listed it.
NoliCedere to Tweedie
4 Aug 17#24
Unfortunately I second @Tweedie 's comments about eBay mobile purchases. I got caught out in this way when sold (unknowingly) a contract phone that the seller then stopped paying for. The mobile network then blocked the phone permanently for all networks. I was right royally up the creek without a paddle - but eBay did refund me eventually. Just a word to the wise n all ....

It still amazes me how people can judge a product "failed" without using it.. I have had a 32GB Pixel since Dec 2016 (purchased at £599 direct from Google) and have had the best mobile experience (bar none) to date and I came off an iPhone 7. Before the Pixel I barely lasted a month with a handset but I have had no reason to change it! The camera is still the best out there (maybe HTC U11 pips it).. OS is still smooth as butter.. not carried out a single factory reset since I have owned it! No lagging or crashes at all and always up to date with the latest security patches and android versions. For the experience I have had it was definitely worth the £599 I paid so the current price is a good price in my humble opinion. Looking forward to the follow up..

How is it better than the iphone 7?, is it water resistant, does it have a memory card slot to improve it over the iphone, will it always get updates like the iphone. I was offered a trade for my iphone and said no, I just could not see how it is any better than the iphone, if it had been water resistant and memory slot then it would
kkh786 to Bendown

The iPhone doesn't have a memory card.. there's a good reason for that as memory card speeds haven't caught up with in built flash performance so Apple wouldn't comprise. The same applies to the Pixel by Google. FYI Google stopped including memory cards years ago. All the OEMs are going that route now. Water resistance? This was the first year iPhone included it even then Apple don't cover water damage under their warranty so would a sane person risk dunking their iPhone 7 knowing Apple will not honour their claims. Anyway I usually look after my phones so don't dunk them in water. The Pixel has enough water resistance for rain protection and spills that is sufficient for me. Support wise the Pixel is best in class for Android. And to bait your ignorant comment the Pixel is better than the iPhone 7 in various ways! Camera for starters. The above is my opinion.. I'm not alone it seems! Just scroll up.

There was a brand new iPhone for £277? Open to all readers on here? Fully boxed, brand new with unused accessories and guaranteed to be immaculate, as opposed to *could* be immaculate if you're lucky?
Or do you mean it was a Refresh deal?

IPhone 7 screen is 750p. It doesn't have wireless charging (no biggie). It doesn't fast charge (actually quite irritating given the iPhone 7 battery is less than 2000 mAh).
That's off the top of head.
Pixel camera is superb as well. IPhone 7 camera is bloody great, but personally prefer my Pixel.

Worth is subjective.. The way I see it the phone is my primary device.. I use it everyday for various tasks and for entertainment purposes. To me for my use case it is definitely worth the £599.. given the amazing user experience the Pixel provides.

Absolutely subjective, but having stepped off of the ludicrous space race 2 years ago I certainly won't be spending more than £250 on a phone.
My Lenovo P2 won't win any speed tests, but it will still be working when every other phone has given way to their anything but flagship batteries.
I'll take the 14 hours of screen on time :sunglasses:
