LoveFilm is closing down on the 31st October. Those who have an active subscription should check their Inbox/Junk for an Email from Amazon which will give the blurb I have put below & include a discount code to knock £15 off a new Alexa enabled Fire Stick.
I'm aware this only affects certain people but some might not check their junk Email & miss this offer.

LOVEFiLM Update
We have very much enjoyed delivering the LOVEFiLM By Post service to our customers. However, over the last few years we’ve seen a decreasing demand for Blu-ray and DVD rental as customers increasingly move to streaming. Due to this, we will be closing the LOVEFiLM By Post service on 31st October 2017.
Until then, you can continue to rent movies and TV shows on Blu-ray and DVD discs as usual. There is no need to take any action. You will not be billed for your LOVEFiLM subscription after 30th September 2017, and you can continue to enjoy the service until it closes on 31st October 2017.
When you have finished watching any discs you have at home, you can simply return them in LOVEFiLM pre-paid envelopes or, if you find yourself short of return envelopes, you can submit your request for extra return envelopes here. Alternatively, you can return the disc in a standard envelope, addressed to:

Wonder what they'll do with all the discs - sell them on as used? Or, they wouldn't be allowed to as they are 'rental' copies?

They'd find a way to sell them on. When BHS were closing pretty much all of their DVD's for sale were ex-rental. Boomerang etc thrive on the ex-rental market.

Yeah, to a third-party probably, but can't see Amazon selling them directly to the public.

Most likely, wish I knew someone at LF, I'd love to buy all their spare discs, instant huge film/TV collection and sell/gift all the duplicates....

Wasn't aware of them closing down but have thought for a while it was only a matter of time with streaming taking over and DVDs / Blurays getting increasingly cheap to buy anyway. Embracing the new Ultra HD 4K format and renting UHD Bluray might have bought them some more time or they could have gone the other way and just made it cheaper but probably would still have shut maybe just a year or so later.
Kind of sad that there isn't a place for physical media rental by post anymore as it did fill a niche. i enjoyed using the service for a good few years back when it first came out (pre amazon ownership) as at that time even the best connections were too slow for good video streaming and there wasn't any real services out there anyway (even pre-youtube).
Sorry to see them go, wasn't a bad service at all, just can't compete with the convenience factor of streaming...
