"Get the full Virgin experience on our east coast route for a ludicrously low price.
Reclining leather seats? Check. Loadsa legroom? Absolutely. Complimentary food and drink served at your seat? You’d better believe it.
Example fares include Leeds/York to London for £20 each way Newcastle to London for £30 each way Edinburgh to London for £40 each way
Book a seat for your bum and travel First Classier. But hurry, the sale ends at midnight on Saturday, 15 July. "

You can, but other passengers won't appreciate it.
My idea of first class travel is not a bunch of kids screaming and running around for 5 hours.

First class is a great experience, they even have bog roll in the loo

If only you can get there 2x quicker with the first class. I joke, though being a younger person, travelling in non-first class is still perfectly reasonable (maybe I'm a sadist perhaps). Or perhaps in a decade or so I'll start to think otherwise, and instead insulate myself into the comforts, and among the richer passengers. Money better spent saving towards Bose quiet and comfort headphone for now I think.

Yes, you can buy child tickets for 1st. Mine were under 5 the last time I took them but I bought them child tickets anyway to make sure they got a seat.

Will I be awkward and disappointed at the other end?
