Ok so I missed out on the HP omen the other day from john lewis and managed to come across this. Seems decent yes it's older graphics to the 1050 but not much difference in performance. everything else the same apart from this does have a type C port which some people may prefer.
Anyway let me know what you guys think and for haters please post a better deal and not just say this is a crap one.

it's a £600 laptop with a 7th gen i5 and a 960.
1080p is what 96%+ of people are using so what's your issue with it? its also IPS so best technology you can get at this sort of price.
8GB RAM is more than enough for at least the next few years.
the fact other configs of this same laptop come with an SSD+HDD i would presume there is another slot (perhaps M.2) for you to add an SSD.

Just FYI, MSI's customer service is shocking. I'm in the middle of getting a GT72 traded in because of their poor advertising and disgusting attitude towards their customers.

True, never seen anyone play a game on a laptop. 1080ti is a minimum requirement with Titan XP being the recommended.
Plus an i5? I am surprised that can even load windows. You really need hyperthreading for optimal notepad launch speed.

Reasonable price but the screen is average, memory is low, battery is basic - no details of the hard drive other than size?

From what I read, i think the HDD isn't very good being 5400rpm but then personally I would wack an SSD in it anyway. Would have though most people would be doing that these days, I can't imagine going back to HDD lol (it's for the wife so comes down to a graphics card or an SSD lol)

Looks like there is a spare slot for an M.2 NVMe drive. Good deal if you ask me. Love my MSI laptop.

I second that the MSi Customer service is shocking. MSI GP72 6QF Leopard Pro last August and it had a fault by Christmas. Took forever to get sorted and took nearly 4 weeks to return. FInally had it back in time for easter but by that point I decided to sell up and invest in a Desktop. Kind of put me off the MSI brand :disappointed:

So True ... I have given up on MSI simply for their poor after sales support!

It is if you are on the move all the time unless you lug your desktop when travelling/moving around.

It is if you need a portable gaming rig. Or can you suggest better?

You're just showing your ignorance and your inability to see things from other peoples perspective who want to do PC gaming but are on the move a lot. No one is saying buy this instead of a desktop rig if you just want to park it on your desk and never move it.

For someone that works away regularly - Gaming laptops make perfect sense.
I have an i7 6700k & GTX 980Ti tower for when im at home,
and an i7 7700k & GTX 1050Ti Laptop for when im working away
Laptop plays most things just fine at near top levels.

I got a laptop with a GTX 1060 from argos last year for £850 (after cashback) you should really consider spending the extra pounds just for the the 1060, it really is substantially ahead of the 960
