Has a DVD drive too; but not FHD which will make this cold. The SSD is a good size and should make this laptop quite quick, despite the sluggish CPU.

A superb machine trashed by less experienced remarks, pass mark is 2660 with single thread operation at near 1000, that's not sluggish for £330 machine, it is bleed edge fast. It is fast with SSD, not should , it is. £330 laptop with 2500 plus pass mark wouldn't get you 1080p for 15.6". When you found one with 15.6" at FHD , let's have a laugh here at its price. I dare you.

Yep, good SSD, not so good CPU and the screen will make the peasants revolt I'm afraid.

What cannot you do that's slow in an office? It is at the top end for power for office work for which I have VMWare running Window XP , then in Windows 8, running concurrently two browsers, one with 120 tabs, and Word PowerPoint, something Paintshop Pro or Photoshop light photo editing plus mail, and before Lotus Notes. Speedy enough to rip a DVD to mp4 should you wish to do so.
Though mine is m-5y71 with pass mark 3000, passively cooled.
As for games, any kid will know already around £300 ain't going to be any good, spare the crass remarks.

Ugh - because some people prefer full HD, I have seen plenty at a good price in the past - if this is a preference, a requirement... my personal laptop is sub HD, whereas my work one which I use all the time is full HD (4k, but actually I don't see the point in that)
Yes, it is a few quid more, but I would personally go for this one everytime over the one above - http://www.ebuyer.com/757280-asus-x555qg-laptop-silver-black-x555qg-xx007t
