Has a DVD drive too; but not FHD which will make this cold. The SSD is a good size and should make this laptop quite quick, despite the sluggish CPU.

A superb machine trashed by less experienced remarks, pass mark is 2660 with single thread operation at near 1000, that's not sluggish for £330 machine, it is bleed edge fast. It is fast with SSD, not should , it is. £330 laptop with 2500 plus pass mark wouldn't get you 1080p for 15.6". When you found one with 15.6" at FHD , let's have a laugh here at its price. I dare you.

Yep, good SSD, not so good CPU and the screen will make the peasants revolt I'm afraid.

What cannot you do that's slow in an office? It is at the top end for power for office work for which I have VMWare running Window XP , then in Windows 8, running concurrently two browsers, one with 120 tabs, and Word PowerPoint, something Paintshop Pro or Photoshop light photo editing plus mail, and before Lotus Notes. Speedy enough to rip a DVD to mp4 should you wish to do so.
Though mine is m-5y71 with pass mark 3000, passively cooled.
As for games, any kid will know already around £300 ain't going to be any good, spare the crass remarks.

Ugh - because some people prefer full HD, I have seen plenty at a good price in the past - if this is a preference, a requirement... my personal laptop is sub HD, whereas my work one which I use all the time is full HD (4k, but actually I don't see the point in that)
Yes, it is a few quid more, but I would personally go for this one everytime over the one above - http://www.ebuyer.com/757280-asus-x555qg-laptop-silver-black-x555qg-xx007t

How much is the cheapest 15" FHD and its battery weight lugging around so you can prefer now and for others readers here to prefer?

Upgrade the brain could be better for the computer so as to do less futile or disorganised processing. A bad office worker always blame his/her computer.

Bought a few of these for customers (Win 10 Pro version). Nice and speedy thanks to the SSD, which is much more important than the CPU for general tasks. Very good for a budget machine.

I think someone on here (ok it's "splender") has bought one and is now desperately trying to justify it to himself (and us) LOL

In general 1366 x 768 is for really basic use - office and internet. That is all, and a lot of people will be happy - especially with SSD. For that purpose it is a good deal. For anything else not.

They always lure people in with easy to grasp specs like bigger ram, processor and storage numbers, and then go ruin it all with a rubbish display. IPS + 1080p should be a minimum.

An A6- I got an A10-9600 for £280 at Xmas, prices have certainly jumped... Decent spec anyway, that SSD will make it a lot more responsive

It's better to go to John Lewis and get a returned laptops for way better price. With 2-3 years warranty.
Just bought i7 6500u, 16gb, nvidia 950, 1tb, full hd for 296£
Not a beast, but add ssd and will be way better than amd crap.
Those who can't see difference between 1366x768 vs full hd vs 4k should go to Specsavers.
Still manufacturing and selling 1366x768 screens are crime against humanity.

It was in Bluewater. They have few reduced price laptops (last time was about 10). Prices from about 150 to 800£
They are not very knowledgeable about stuff they selling and they are not allowed to switch them on for you to check. So you must Google by model numbers to get all specs. You can return to shop if not happy anyway.
Long time ago bought i7 6700hq (real i7 4 core, not that u crap), 16g, nvidia 860m (4gb ddr5) , 4k screen for 749£ (or 799?) when same model cheapest could find was on ebay well over 1000£. With 3 years warranty.
