I'm probably gonna get some slack for this deal because its not building your own, but for £629 you can't really go wrong with an entry level gaming PC. The SSD is a real nice bonus for this price range. 2 Year guarantee included too.
I'm thinking strip out the 380 and install either a 1060 or 1070? Wouldn't be that much more if you sell the 380, plus a PSU of 500W should handle it. Doing this would set up a sweet VR or 1440p machine.

i5's are a waste of money now, you can get better for cheaper.

Well no, just no. You might be able to get a newer i5 for cheaper in a pre-built but you won't get better than a i5 for cheaper anywhere.

For that money, I'd want something that could run VR out of the box.

It's very close to minimum specs and people have said it runs okay even though its just below min. I do reckon however you could maybe spend £70 more, sell the 380 for £130 and buy a 1060 for £200, and suddenly you're way above min spec for only £700, which is cheaper than most other VR ready pre built desktops

A prime example:

£456 without a GPU, and when GPU prices are back to normal, you have a machine thats a lot better, for the same money.
