The movie adaptation directed by Spielberg will be out early next year. Better off waiting for the movie to come out IMO.
I personally prefer watching movie adaptations first before reading the source material.

Read this the other month, great book, I've really been enjoying Bill Bryson books recently. A Walk In the Woods is a personal favourite of mine. Enjoy
