What do the three circles on the top measure?
Answer:
One is seconds, the next is tens of seconds, the last is tens of minutes (I believe, the last one may not be accurate)

Question:
Can you thread a nato strap through? looks a bit tight
Answer:
You can install a nato on it but you install it in a different way. First you take off the spring bars, next place strap thru the lugs and last install the spring bars on top of the strap. I did this with a 19mm gray strap.

Question:
Can I replace the band? what size width strap should i use?
Answer:
Yes it is replaceable. 7/8" or 2 cm looks to be the size of the bar that goes through the band to watch connector. Remember it is a recessed trapezoid.

Question:
does it have a countdown timer?
Answer:
It has "preset timers", I want to be able to set the timer like when I cook, I use 2 to 3 minute when broiling steaks... They don't make my model I got about 20 years ago (1846) W-71. I ripped the band off again and this time it ripped the hole in the case. It's thin with a long battery life. They have some G-Shocks with countdown timers but they are so thick!

This is a great price, though to be technically correct it doesn't have an analogue time display.
Heated.

Blame Amazon for that... I tend to copy/paste the Amazon listing name verbatim as it makes it easier to search for.
Edit: Actually, thinking about it, the "Analogue" part of Amazon.co.uk's description could refer to the three circular dials, mentioned in the Amazon.com Q&As in Post #1:

Nice as a daily beater, slightly reminiscent of the "Casio Royale" AE1200 which is a bit more expensive (see Post #2). Here's opinions comparing the two: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f296/casio-ae1200wh-1a-vs-casio-ae1300-1761258.html

Edit: Actually, I like the Gold/Green version (AE-1200WH-1BV) of this AE-1200 (is it really Gold or just the Illuminator backlight?), (out of stock on Amazon, d'oh https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-AE-1200WH-1B-Sports-AE-1200WH-1B-Wristwatch-men/dp/B00A2EQH2E ):
Not so keen on this Olive Green/nylon strap AE1200WHB, though:

I picked up the Casio Royale last March from Argos for £16.99.
Any ideas where to get the red bezel version of the AE-1300WH-8AV from?
Red, Blue or Black (with Yellow accents) are all £25.36 here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-Collection-Digital-Watch-AE-1300WH-4AVEF/dp/B00IAOLFE8
Edit: Other colour variants (£25.36 Amazon option is on the right): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-AE-1300WH-1A2VEF-Mens-Watch/dp/B00ID5FCTI
This one seems to be from overseas sellers, though https://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-AE1300WH-1A2V-Black-Quartz-Digital/dp/B00J2437PA
(Curiously, Casio's website has this model listed under their "Youth Series" - though Amazon has it listed as a Mens' Watch) http://www.casio-intl.com/in/en/wat/watch_detail/AE-1300WH-1A2V/
My favourite is the Black/Yellow, out of this lot
TBH, my next Casio will be this one when it drops in price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00N5SLQ7A/
Same price on Amazon as well.
