Seems a decent enough price for a 7.2 Dolby atmos av receiver

I really want this but doesn't have enough HDMI ports compared to my current amp.
Hot anyway.

Finally richer sound start putting premium brands on sale, hot! You're right who wants 50 pound off cheap Chinese rubbish like onkyo. Hoping they will start a sale on Sony soon to, fingers crossed.

works better with a Sony amp, not just as good with a Yamaha

The '681' is the better option in this price bracket. 6 HDMI inputs (3 are HDCP 2.2), plus 4K upscaling. Has a phono stage too.

Can I ask why 4k upscaling is important on an av receiver, as pretty much all 4k tvs now do 4k upscaling?

Does this make everything sound amazing or does it depend on source?

My dad's 78s really come alive when played through this.
It's as if Acker Bilk is on the sofa blowing his horn and Billie Holiday is in the larder having a fag whilst Benny Goodman is on the ceiling touching up the artexing.

Forgive my stupid question, but what does it actually do?
Is it like a 'hub'/passthrough for other devices? Is having this like having a 'smart' sub or something?
