it's tempting to buy a new one at this price rather then clean the one I've got again! A right pain to clean!

Yes - I use mine to make pakora and southern fried wings if I am making a large amount.
The thermometer makes it easier to check you have the right heat for crispness

Do you just boil your pakora?

Surprisingly there's still loads of people who use old fashioned chip pans. I regularly read about chip pan fires. I can't understand why when you can pick one of these up for £10, much safer. Don't use either myself, but if I did there's no way I'd allow an old fashioned chip pan in the house.

Large amounts of food in these fryers makes the Temp drop rapidly & so can spoil foods.
Best done in small batches.

I have one that looks very similar to this, maybe even the same, and it works fine for me. I'd say this is a great price.

I've just ordered one for this reason. I gave my old one to my parents. this is a cracking deal. I make home made battered fish and its better than my local chip shop. I use the Tesco batter packet mix following the instructions added baking powder and its so crispy and fresh. still plenty of stock. heat
