I bet that is posted from your 10 year old entry level Focus. "It's only a car" you say, as you cry yourself to sleep.

Ha Ha - I think your comment says something about your own perceptions and priorities!
BTY I have company car that is from one of the perceived "premium" marques but it's interesting that you can't actually provide an answer to my question but rather prefer to have a lighthearted sideswipe at someone that's got the audacity to ask it!

It's the premium offshoot of Nissan, like Lexus to Toyota or Acura to Honda.

Thanks for the explanation, I genuinely thought Acura was just a model of Honda

They are premium brands in the US and japan. Infinity Q35 are impressive.

I always wonder what people mean when they describe a car marque as a "premium" brand? Does this mean that they're products are more reliable, better warranty, better mpg, rarer, or is it simply that they're more expensive and perceived by some to have "snob" value therefore appealing to those with such low self esteem that they think ownership of a particular brand will in some way boost how others view them?

You've answered your own question there really. Probably offended quite a few people in the process. Great work

So basically, if you buy a t-shirt from primark, it's just a t-shirt, made with cheap materials which comes with a cheap price, if you go to say boss or viv westood, anywhere in Mayfair really, then that's premium. . Same goes with cars, you have cheap models from every car manufacturing company. But then you have your premium lines, such as Lexus, infinity, Audi, BMW. Better quality, higher prices.

IMO should be better build quality and choice of materials and components which you are paying for and generally a nicer place to be eg reassuring thud of door closing instead of tinny hollow feel. In my experience mostly but not always true. in my current golf I don't see much quality difference between this and a Honda Civic. No insult to the Golf just that the Civic is very well put together. However a recent W205 C class I had. Wow, was genuinely a luxurious place to be. No snob factor here, the small things were really well thought out from the way the heated seats automatically lowered heat over time to quality feel of window switches.
Would categorically say pricing/marque has NO bearing in reliability.

I've often wondered why it costs more per month, the longer you have the lease?
I thought that the bulk of depreciation occurs in the first year, so by the end of year 2 it's lost more in percentage terms than a year later.
So on a 3-yr deal you have then paid another £2,412 to them in yr 3, compared to £2,340 in yr 2.
It's just that I think it's better these days to hold the car for 3 years then you are not paying as many set-up fees, and assuming you don't do too many miles, you should just about get away without brakes and tyres (and MOT).

2 year old cars have better re-sale value due to the car still having manufacturers warranty. Hence I've found 2 years deals are cheaper than 3 year deals.

PS what the heck are 'door mirror puddle lights'?

Little lights on the bottom of the wing mirrors that light up when you press the key to open the doors. The idea is that you can see if you're about to step in a puddle. First world problem solved.
