Probably means new subscribers to music unlimited rather than new to prime

This is actually ridiculous. So to get access to 2 million songs you have to be prime member then to get access to 40 million songs you have pay additional amount. Maybe they will bring up something for which you have to be prime member, and pay for one service and again pay for another one.

So use one of the other legal services with 40 million songs that charges almost nothing.

You get access to 2 million songs free with prime membership not the 40 million this is for.

Why only new prime members? Thought prime was all about getting exclusive benefits, now you have to be a new customer to benefit too? Good for new users I guess but seems unfair for customers that might have had it for years...

I've been a Prime member for 3 years and I just signed up for this and the order is confirmed as being £0.99, so not just for new Prime members.

Guess it's similar in a way to their Prime Video, where you have to pay extra to watch the newer releases.

Personally I like it this way. It's not like Netflix or Spotify where they only do one thing, and if you subscribe it can be assumed that you really like that thing. Amazon Prime has a whole range of features, so I would much rather that Prime comes with a basic version of each one and allows me to upgrade them individually if I want to, rather than assume I want same-day delivery and every song and every video and every book and charge me accordingly.
