This is actually ridiculous. So to get access to 2 million songs you have to be prime member then to get access to 40 million songs you have pay additional amount. Maybe they will bring up something for which you have to be prime member, and pay for one service and again pay for another one.

Why only new prime members? Thought prime was all about getting exclusive benefits, now you have to be a new customer to benefit too? Good for new users I guess but seems unfair for customers that might have had it for years...

Personally I like it this way. It's not like Netflix or Spotify where they only do one thing, and if you subscribe it can be assumed that you really like that thing. Amazon Prime has a whole range of features, so I would much rather that Prime comes with a basic version of each one and allows me to upgrade them individually if I want to, rather than assume I want same-day delivery and every song and every video and every book and charge me accordingly.

My other half had a one month Prime membership. Tried to get the £59 Prime yearly on hers, and wasn't possible. So took out the £59 yearly on my non-prime account and cancelled her Prime, which still has a couple of weeks to run. I have a Dot, and had a one month Amazon Music Unlimited account when I first got that, so annoying can't get this 4 months for 99p, but have just ordered it on the OH's account, which I will run through Echo. A bit of a long way around, but have both Amazon deals now. Thanks OPs.

I was concerned about the line in the T&C: Any portion of the promotional membership period that is unused upon termination of membership will be lost.
I got this reply from Amazon: Please be informed that if you sign up to 0.99 GBP Music subscription plan, you need an active Prime membership for the whole 4 months.
If you've cancelled your Prime membership (before 4 months) after sign in to 0.99 GBP music subscription, you'll not be able to use the benefits of music subscription.
Maybe obvious but wanted that clarified by Amazon.
Since my Prime Membership expires on the 4th July I can't make use of this. Unless I try and get that yearly offer for £59 but can't be bothered.

Went for the Tidal 3 months free offer yesterday as I've already had a trial of Amazon Unlimited (I'd forgotten but Mr Bezos has a much better memory than me!! (embarrassed) )
Sound quality on the Tidal HiFi quality option is fantastic, btw. Plus, like this, you can cancel immediately and it continues until the offer is up (in the case of Tidal 3 months). Recommended if you can't get this.

"Alexa play the song Deacon Blue by Steely Dan"
"Alexa play the album Winelight by Grover Washington"

Amazon Music didn't quite cut it for me, mainly due to the player on my phone - which I do 90% of my listening on - but that's just personal preference based mainly on software.
Spotify just generally works the way I need it to and found Amazon a little cumbersome in comparison, though I'd say Amazon's library was probably better than Spotify's.
Only real gripe with Spotify is the random replacement of songs on playlists. I'll often find a song missing or replaced with a terrible cover/studio/live version with no rhyme or reason, yet the original track (or at least an original copy of the track) is still sitting within the Spotify library, so you can never be 100% that all of your songs are the version that you want.
Their randomising algorithm is quite shit too.
One thing Amazon is good at, is their choosing of songs for random playlists.
At a BBQ, asked a friend's Echo to play a grunge playlist and each song was an absolute corker, not just the most well known ones either.
Spotify is a bit hipster in that regard, trying to get me to listen to music played by cunts with topknots and beards.
