As well as that it's worth checking how efficient the printer is. Many Ink Jet printers waste a lot of ink doing cleaning cycles. This is particularly exacerbated if like me you don't print regularly, as the ratio of cleaning cycles/printed pages will be higher.
However, I think the point with these deals is to use up the free Instant Ink period then ditch the printer.
For example I still bought two HP8715's on the recent deal which included £74 instant ink credit plus 3 months trial. The printer may have expensive ink and over zealous cleaning cycle, but I don't plan to use it past the free Instant ink period unless there happens to be some very cheap ink floating about. With the FREE INK code, referral, free 3 months and £74 credit I'll get 2-3 years of printing. I'd easily spend that much on carts for another printer, so great deal for me.

From previous threads, yes. You can call them and tell them you entered it and it hadn't applied. OR you forget to apply it. Same goes for referral codes if you hadn't entered one.
I had issues with a missing credit voucher in the printer I bought and spoke to them to resolve this. They are very helpful.

Amazon may well have price matched but they're also showing as 'Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months', which is a tad more that 'a few days'! :smirk:

HP ink is more expensive then canon's printer. check ink prices before buying a printer

From £1.99 per month for 30 full pages for HP Instant Ink use, pretty sure thats much cheaper than Canon ink will work out! I use it as a 2nd printer, only using when I want to print full colour pages of A4, not just a simple letter.
