Avoid Laganas unless you're after a "fish n chips at the Old Red Lion" kind of holiday.
It's the Blackpool of the island and full of lairy British teens acting up.
Argassi is lively if you're after a bit of nightlife but it's not dominated by Brits.
Tsivili, Alikanas and Alykes are nice if you want a bit of quiet.
You can get boat trips out to the shipwreck from pretty much anywhere on the island.
I recommend you get some transport and head out into the mountains, you get a piece of real Greek culture and a you can pick up a Greek salad for peanuts

The "British" which is often used as a substitute for the more accurate "The English" are the worst people to be near on holiday. Its amazing how just one English couple can ruin a whole hotels peace and quiet.

Er, isn't that racist? I mix with all sorts when I go on holiday and take people just as I find them. There are obnoxious people of all nationalities, easily spotted and avoided.

Stayed at this hotel before. It is set back from the hustle and bustle so it is quiet by Laganas standards. Run by Tony and his wife. He is the chef and cannot do enough for you. Best food I have ever had.

Agreed! We were there in 2002 during the World Cup when England were playing Brazil. Horrific!

I was there last year with my son, filthy place with drugs and gas openly sold in the hotel, I paid 300 extra to get a flight home for us as we couldnt stand it

Agreed. Kalamaki is also a great resort, close to the airport and close to Zante Town. It has a lovely beach too.

Agreed its an awful destination. There were more cigarette ends on the beach than sand too!

We took one of these holidays to Alykanas last summer and I disagree. Alykanas is every bit as Blackpool-ish as the next. It's basically all fish and chips, burgers, horse-and-cart rides and tourist tat. But that's Greece these days, sadly.
However, as a holiday it was what we made it - very relaxing and the beach is just 30 minutes walk away. There are some nice places to eat if you are willing to search for them.

the OP's acc is 8 years old so does seem odd

The link has been changed to the direct link I posted above. Previous it was going to another site and you had to click on that to get to the thomson site.
The other site may have been a referral type one which got them banned.
