No, it doesn't work out at £31 a tyre, if u make use of the voucher. It's still ~£41 a tyre, you just get a £20 argos voucher. ~£82 is still coming out of your bank. Fooling yourself into believing that it is cheaper because of the voucher is silly.

I steer away from budget tyres, but stuff like this is fine. I don't have a sports car and I don't drive like a muppet, I've never had issues stopping. I think many people are sucked in by bias studies and good marketing, it's a bit like getting an iPhone 7 when a decent £150 device will do the same thing. If people want to spend £140 for a "premium" tyre, good for them, but for me, these would be fine

Not the best of the cheap tyres , but with the voucher I can give it some heat for the price .

I've been putting reasonable value tyres on 3 cars for nearly 30 years and to be honest haven't noticed any difference between them, if you're not chucking your car about I don't see that a major brand is going to be any problem.

Not if you purchase something of said value and get the money back from it.

Silly? I shop at Argos now and then, how would it be silly if I spend the voucher at Argos?
I agree it doesn't work out at £31 a tyre but it can effectively work out at that for some people, and that's what is being claimed.

Nonsense.
This is like saying it's not cheaper if you get cashback. The origin amount still comes out of your bank, yes obviously, but you get money back afterwards. In this case you just have to spend it at Argos. Many people shop at Argos, or have things they need that Argos sell, that they'd normally buy elsewhere.

How do you drive? Last lease car I had was on close to 30k when I gave it back on the original set of tyres.

There are some good budget tyres about these days, unlike years ago. I have started using budget tyres and find them to be pretty good.

Aren't Firestone owned by Bridgestone?
I always get the best I can afford when it comes to tyres; they're all that's between you and the road...
Have some heat OP.

Exactly, the point being that EXPENSIVE doesn't always equal BEST. Brands like Pirelli will spend a fortune on F1, someone has to pick that bill up. Its like anything, how much do you think "top brand" perfume actually costs to make? Its not like pharmaceuticals, there's little R&D, but that A-Celeb endorsement and weird/confusing adverts don't come cheap!!
Don't be sucked in by marketing, due to their nature, tyres will undoubtedly have to meet a standard, some may last longer, some may be softer and grip better, but when all is said and done, they will all wear out. Would I put some budget £30 tyres on my car.... probably not, but likewise, I wont be putting £140 tyres on just because they are used on race cars
