No, it doesn't work out at £31 a tyre, if u make use of the voucher. It's still ~£41 a tyre, you just get a £20 argos voucher. ~£82 is still coming out of your bank. Fooling yourself into believing that it is cheaper because of the voucher is silly.

I steer away from budget tyres, but stuff like this is fine. I don't have a sports car and I don't drive like a muppet, I've never had issues stopping. I think many people are sucked in by bias studies and good marketing, it's a bit like getting an iPhone 7 when a decent £150 device will do the same thing. If people want to spend £140 for a "premium" tyre, good for them, but for me, these would be fine

I booked my car in for an MOT and two firestone front tyres. Turned out the osr was also at limit, and the nsr was close so decided to get both rear tyres replaced however they didn't have enough firestone so they put on two continentals at the same price but he couldn't give me another argos code (chap said the continentals were £76 each so I was getting a good deal, but I can't see that online - more like £56 each). However when I paid and collected he gave me two firestone reward cards so I have claimed £40 argos vouchers! Road noise was so reduced on way home with the new tyres! Result, thanks OP!
Got two of these fitted yesterday for £90, minus £20 vouchers.
Pleasant service and didn't have to prompt for vouchers as they were stapled onto receipt. Happy so far. Thanks OP, this deal came up at just the right time.

Had 4 of these fitted yesterday, the tyres seem fine so far, so for ~£160 fitted it's a bargain. I did have to ask about the Argos vouchers though, so make sure to get the code.
The codes needs to be redeemed via a website, which gives you an Argos discount voucher code which can be screengrabbed/printed.

Fallacy? If you don't hoon around and leave appropriate stopping distances mixed with reasonable driving skill it aint no fallacy. People have budgets to live by, my car doesn't stop as quickly as some because I don't have wide tyres with more in contact with the road, my suspension isn't electronically controlled, I don't have drive slip control, I don't have ceramic or vented discs etc etc. There are many things that make you safer in a car but they are not in my price range. Why oh why do people get so bloody pious about tyres, do you swap for winter tyres?

I drive hard whenever I have an open road (50% of the time). However, I only have a 140bhp car so there is not massive amounts of power being transferred to my front tyres. It's probably the speed at which I take corners. If I had a more powerful car I'd probably only get 2k miles out of tyres. Some people claim they can get 10-15k out of their fronts from driving hard? Either they're lying or their idea of driving hard is very different from mine. PS. Tyres are kept at correct PSI, checked every 2 weeks. Tracking is fine.

Firestone tyres lasted me 18,000 miles and only front two replaced due to wear. Back two are 5 years old now so will be replaced soon due simply to age as they still have 4mms at least!
Good tyres! Read reviews from MyTyres etc.

Why don't they just reduce all the range as these are the poor quality tyres. Maybe just a load of tyres sizes, but I would not mind a cheap tyre as I think if they caused death ,they would be banned.

These are a decent enough tyre for the money, but your thoughts about dangerous tyres are wrong.
I took a sidewall nail and needed a replaceable tyre RIGHT NOW a few years ago, all they had were some no-name brand at £35 per corner. I had both replaced as having one new, plus one fairly worn is a no no.
From the moment I drove out of the fitting centre they didnt feel right, pulling out of the first junction they spun up (on an ancient people carrier with 250K on the clock); on the next junction - a steep uphill, off camber, I could barely get the car to move, the grip was so low; and then it rained - even in a 30MPH zone I could barely keep the car on the road (locked up and slid into the kerb under light braking)
Bearing in mine this was a route I drove EVERY day, the car was so out of control I drove back to the garage at just above walking speed and got them to courier-in a set of better tyres from another dealer.

Wife fitted these recently to get my car through MOT taking off the Bridgestone Potenza that were just above the wear markers.
The car is quite frankly dangerous now and is slipping all over the road although I do drive briskly. Won't be buying again, shocking difference in tyre performance.

Nonsense.
This is like saying it's not cheaper if you get cashback. The origin amount still comes out of your bank, yes obviously, but you get money back afterwards. In this case you just have to spend it at Argos. Many people shop at Argos, or have things they need that Argos sell, that they'd normally buy elsewhere.

You're saying that Firestone are crap? really?? There is a more than adequate middle ground between top end and bottom end, but hey, if you want to get ripped off on the premise that an expensive tyre is always better, go for it! Exactly, the point being that EXPENSIVE doesn't always equal BEST. Brands like Pirelli will spend a fortune on F1, someone has to pick that bill up. Its like anything, how much do you think "top brand" perfume actually costs to make? Its not like pharmaceuticals, there's little R&D, but that A-Celeb endorsement and weird/confusing adverts don't come cheap!!
Don't be sucked in by marketing, due to their nature, tyres will undoubtedly have to meet a standard, some may last longer, some may be softer and grip better, but when all is said and done, they will all wear out. Would I put some budget £30 tyres on my car.... probably not, but likewise, I wont be putting £140 tyres on just because they are used on race cars

This is a the favourite trick of dodgy tyre dealerships, and so many people seem to be suckered in by it. Just because a premium tyre brand company also own a brand that make cheap tyres, it doesn't mean the cheap tyres are just as good.
It's also a fallacy that crappy teflon tyres are fine as long as you don't have a performance car, or because you don't hoon around. The reduced stopping distance that good tyres provide only makes a difference when you really need it in an emergency avoidance/braking maneuver.
