Who'd have thought that releasing a game early in the year would contribute it to "getting lost" amongst other bigger releases?! Funny how quickly the trend has shifted! Jan - Mar used to be a good time to release a game as very little else was out. This year is shaping up to be one of the best years ever for releases.
I was tempted with Tides, is it worth it? I've heard it's very text-heavy

yes very text heavy and don't listing to those who say its like baulders gate and icewind dale etc, apart from how it looks its nothing like those, as there is very little combat, its about the story and how your choices etc effect the world around you, lucky if a dozen or so battles in the game.
probably a bit more battles than a dozen, but it pays to avoid combat when you can as it appears to give better rewards etc in the long run

Ok thanks. Doesn't sound like a game I'd have much patience for at the moment. My tiredness levels mean that I can only concentrate for short bursts and therefore need lots of action. This sounds like the exact opposite. Which is a shame, cos it looks like the type of game I'd have been well n truly into a few years ago (damn family life haha).

If you liked Planescape: Torment then you'll enjoy this. As its a spiritual successor to that, more so then baldur or icewind dale.
