Who'd have thought that releasing a game early in the year would contribute it to "getting lost" amongst other bigger releases?! Funny how quickly the trend has shifted! Jan - Mar used to be a good time to release a game as very little else was out. This year is shaping up to be one of the best years ever for releases.
I was tempted with Tides, is it worth it? I've heard it's very text-heavy

yes very text heavy and don't listing to those who say its like baulders gate and icewind dale etc, apart from how it looks its nothing like those, as there is very little combat, its about the story and how your choices etc effect the world around you, lucky if a dozen or so battles in the game.
probably a bit more battles than a dozen, but it pays to avoid combat when you can as it appears to give better rewards etc in the long run

Ok thanks. Doesn't sound like a game I'd have much patience for at the moment. My tiredness levels mean that I can only concentrate for short bursts and therefore need lots of action. This sounds like the exact opposite. Which is a shame, cos it looks like the type of game I'd have been well n truly into a few years ago (damn family life haha).

If you liked Planescape: Torment then you'll enjoy this. As its a spiritual successor to that, more so then baldur or icewind dale.

I think it's also because the fans are not on this platform.
All of us are on the PC. I don't think many console owners are interested in this sort of game.
It's great that the devs made the effort though...

untrue, lots of pc reviews from people who don't get the game, steam is littered with people, it comes off as a bit arrogant that console gamers wont like it
its more people not knowing about the game and expecting an action CRPG

Within a few weeks, I got Horizon, Torment, and Persona 5, unfortunately for Torment it has been sidelined already.
But I'll come back to it, just a shame that it is now half the price i paid for it.
My fault though. :/

This launched at a terrible time, not sure what they were thinking. Im a huge fan of planescape torment, loved pillars of eternity, had been anticipating this since it announced and doubly so when they announced a ps4 version. It was absolutely on my radar and still is but I got both horizon (which I finished) and BOTW (which I am still playing and nowhere near done with) which came out at the same time.
I also want to play Nier automata, yakuza, persona 5 but there are only so many hours in the day one can assign to gaming. A shame as I am the exact target audience of this but struggling to see when I would get chance to play it. I will probably pick it up fkr the backlog once it hits 9.99.

Meh, it's the same all the time. People complain that we get the same old stuff over and over again, yet when we get something different, most of those people who complain we get the same stuff, ignore games like these. People wonder why we get inundated with FPS and the likes.

I do think it's odd that they launched this on console in the first place. Not saying it's a bad thing at all, but the game is a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment which most typical console gamers probably haven't played. If you have played Planescape, you're probably a PC gamer and are most likely picking this up on PC...
Great price though. From reading Steam reviews, I'm unsure this is my cup of tea. Text heavy is fine, but this sounds pretty extreme. How does this game compare to Pillars of Eternity?

price is 19.85 as the shipping (3£) is mandatory....unless you want to pay the express shipping (100£)))))))

That doesn't make my comment untrue...I agree with you.
I didn't say console gamers won't like it. You're just twisting my words...
The fans are still mostly on PC regardless. Many of us grew up with this genre on the PC.
I personally don't know of any exclusive console gamers who's even heard of this game.
It's a shame.

hows that, he said in his other post that console users aren't interested in this sort of game and all i was really pointing out was that just as many people on pc who don't like it as on consoles, so not really fair saying console owners dont like these sort of games
