£30 off at the moment for anyone interested. Not cheap, but this does not come on offer very often, so £30 is better than nothing.

More to the point e-ink displays are specifically suited to book reading & do the job brilliantly. It's the only separate device I use every day. For everything else I use an iPad.

The Kindle Fire is just so *slow*. 28 seconds to launch Facebook, 24 seconds to open Candycrush.. bought it thinking it would be nicer to use than my iPhone.. just sits in a drawer. PS. This deal is a hot from me.

Need a good offer on oasis... Voyage doesn't seem worthwhile upgrade compared to paperwhite.

I was looking at the oasis , however it seems to be missing some of the upgrades the voyage has, I.e light sensor.

Mental that you can get a fire for £35 and Kindles cost so much more

LCD is a much more refined and proven technology. eInk displays are still developing and nowhere near as mass produced.

The screen on the £35 Kindle isn't that great; ours doesn't get used at all now.

Basic kindle ereader is about £50-60. I have a kindle fire, like it but I charge it up.every couple of days, I have a kindle basic ereader and the paper white, the paper white I use every night, its easier on the eyes, more compact and I've charged it once a month. It can sit on standby for an absolute age also.
For reading I don't think they are in the same ballpark personally.

Totally agree! These are five times the cost but no where near five times the tech or production price. Amazon is making a packet on these. Yes the fires are for different uses, and not all that fantastic, but £35 is amazing value.

no comparison,Fire has LCD screen and not suitable for longer reading as your eyes will bleed.
these have e-link and almost like real paper.no eye strain.
still anything more expensive than paper white doesn't make sense imo.

And a £10 voucher if you purchase on or before 18th April.
Paperwhite also reduced to £89.99; with a £5 voucher back on that one.
Does anyone know how long these Kindle discounts are on for?

The Voyage is never discounted. I know. I've been waiting for over a year & caved in earlier this year & got a discounted Paperwhite. Shame I didn't wait a few more months to get this. Can't win 'em all.... Heat. Definitely.
