Getting a diesel for 5,000 miles a year is absolute madness.

Test drove this , wasn't impressed with the engine.
Good rental price tho.

Surely better off buying one 18 months old at £18k on a 5 year loan, got to be around the same monthly cost and no mileage limits?
Quite a few 65 plates on Autotrader from £18k and a loan of that amount over 5 years is about £325/month.

You must be mad. You wouldn't want a diesel, let alone a Jag, out of warranty.

Is that in regard as to the purchase price being higher versus savings, or that the actual running costs over 5,000 miles is more? All articles I can find seem to talk about higher purchase price, depreciation etc all of which are irrelevant with a lease, like the article below. Am I missing something about the daily running costs?
PS this deal is priced on 5,000 miles but you can have any amount as long as you observe the 13.08p excess mileage.
Buying a new diesel now is madness with the the taxes in place and it's only going to get worse in my opinion.

Good job this is a lease deal then as they include the tax ...

These are Euro 6 'clean' diesels - not subject to the forthcoming restrictions in London, etc.

Why are you mentioning buying on a leasing thread? What's buying a diesel got to do with this thread?

Been looking for a deal on an XF R for a few weeks now, very tempted by this especially with such a low initial deposit. Thanks.

Hi, this is my local main dealer rather than an online presence, so may be able to negotiate something locally with here as a back up.
Best I could see prior to this was around £1,200 down and around £360 a month.

Just in case you weren't aware of the differences, this isn't an XFR, it's a 2.0 diesel.

This is not an XFR (which is a v8).

Can't remember the last time Jag made a reliable car...

I'm not under the impression they've ever made a reliable car.

Yeah it's not as bad as a lease but even so it'll be doing so few miles it'll barely get warm, meaning the economy will very likely be pants and I wouldn't like to guess at how clogged up the DPF will get (which presumably will be the driver's problem).

5000 miles is only 13 miles a day. I don't think you'll see much difference in fuel savings over such a short limit, go for the petrol if you do shorter journeys. I had the XF r sport last year as a company vehicle and it was too loud for my liking.
