Are these worth having? And which is better, hive or nest?

I've been looking at a few and went with best due to better software. Best knows when you are not in Hive works on geo fencing

The actual answer is Evohome but, of course, the cost is much greater.

Amazon have price matched, but only the heating+water. Can you buy the heating+water kit but not bother with water? Ours is a combi boiler so wouldn't need the hit water part, but the kit is actually cheaper on Amazon.

Yep. Just don't connect the wires for hot water.
Know it works as we swapped to a combination boiler after installing hive :P

Had this since February, couldn't praise it enough until 15/03/17 when hive changed the online dashboard and ruined the experience overnight.
If something ain't broke..............

I also dislike the new online dashboard. It is too big meaning you cannot see it all on the screen at once - and amending the time slots is way more finnicky, whereas before it was straightforward. Why did they do this!!?
Having said that... I still think Hive is pretty good, and really I just like having control about when to turn it off and on when I am away from home. And this price is very good - I paid £180 and thought that was a steal.
Personally, after having Nest, i would go for Hive. had allsorts of issues with Nest thermostat disconnecting and other random issues. Even if you don't have these issues it ain't worth more money than HIVE unless you have a complicated multizone setup
Also, NEST owned by tax dodging Google, and Hive owned by Uk company. (Centrica)

We use a Netatmo Thermostat, which also works with Alexa

And IFTTT, plus it looks great compared to this.
It doesn't do Hot Water though.

Hive also works with IFTTT and Amazon Echo. Hive also accepts commands by text, so I've used Macrodroid app to create some widgets on my phone screen so I can send any heating or water command with a single button press.

Have you actually used IFTTT? I see lots of praise for it, but once I actually tried to use it, I found it totally unreliable. Not sure if its just me.
