Yes, well as long as you have the storage space.
When these tablets are connected to your Prime membership it unlocks a feature called On Deck, which downloads a few films & programmes that you might be interested in too. Its handy as it means that there is usually something to watch when out of a WifI area.
from Amazon:
"Videos downloaded by On Deck are stored on your device or SD card depending on your storage setting. On Deck downloads in a special shadow mode, using storage only when it's available, and won't impact performance. When you download apps, videos, music, books, and other content, On Deck automatically makes room – there’s no hassle of needing to clear out the space yourself. On Deck will never block you from using your storage the way that you want."
unfortunately the On Deck feature on my Fire Tablet insist on sending me Adam Sandler movies regardless of how i set my preferences.

I used this method, very simple, just grabbed the very latest apk's from apkmirror.
At £35, these are frankly ridiculous value for money.

£15 cheaper than Amazon as I type and no Special Offers either. I found mine a little slow though, if they did one with 2Gb RAM I'd be happy to pay more.

Look on YouTube for reviews. It's basic but faster than my old dying Hudl.
Bit of lag loading web pages but it's £35 and not an Apple IPad lol.
Don't expect it to be amazing but I'm getting this for the lounge/kids/grandfather etc.

Works well, you are tied to amazon for apps, i cant fault it in any way, it is not at the level of my ipad which cost £400+ you can send pdf s to it as well, i use it without a cover and have never had any problems
At this price it is a no brainer BUY IT

I've got Amazon Prime Video; I'm assuming that I will be able to play and download series on this and watch them back offline?

Yes, you can. Though do check if this is only 8gb or 8gb with micro SD card slot - the ones with slot take up to I think 128gb, much better for downloading loads of boxsets.

Possibly - if they come with v 5.3.2.0 or earlier of FireOS then they can be rooted and run CM12 or Fire Nexus, the former of which is no longer getting updates. If it comes with v 5.3.2.1 or later then there is no root available atm.
I've bought a few of them from argos and they tend to be older version of firmware - especially if you get it from a store that doesn't sell many & they just have them sitting in stock for a while.
