If you prefer cans, Tescos are doing a 12 * 440ml Speckled box (5.28L) for £11 at the moment. Cans fit in the fridge and retain pressure till the ring is pulled

1 - If your getting foam for the first few pints you havent left it to stand long enough. Needs to rest in the place your keeping it for the day at least. If your buying it, putting it down then opening it your going to get just foam.
2 - The tip to getting the pints out properly is to use the pressure relief at the top. Slowly open it as your pour your beers.
If its going flat too quickly youve opened the pressure relief at the top too much too quickly and its got no air in the keg.
Last 2 Ive had Ive had fine following that and I got a good 5 days out of it. My friend brought one round a few months back, plonked it down in my kitchen and opened it and got the result you said.

Thanks ordered some Speckles. Shame the others aren't available online as I absolutely refuse to enter our local Morrisons!

Same here. My nearest store is a hell-hole. One visit was enough. If I do want anything from Morrisons, I'll order it online. Shame, on this occasion, because I'd have gone straight for the Budvar.

Never thought of that! ...Would definately be a deal breaker as nobody likes warm beer

Some of these are ales, though. Wouldn't drink a cold Hobgoblin; wouldn't drink a warm Budweiser. Come to think of it, wouldn't drink Budweiser at all if there was Hobgoblin available!
Got the Old Speckled at xmas, will give the Goblin a try this time around.

How long do these last once you have started drinking them? And I mean that in a once opened type of way.

Says to serve within 3 days of opening. So you could probibly get 5 if well chilled. Just don't have onions in your fridge.

It says 3 days but I'm sure it would last about a week, not sure what the dispensing method is though

Turning the valve off after use should increase the time. Otherwise it will probably be flat after a couple of days. As long as it remains open it is leaking pressure.

Cant say that thought ever entered my mind... sadly!
Was just thinking this will be ideal for Saturdays boxing :disappointed:

You'll be very lucky to get three days of tasty beer once opened.
The problem is after the second pint all the Co2 in the keg that is used to carbonate and also push the beer out is used up and you have to open the top valve to release the vacuum that is now preventing the beer from flowing out. Once this top valve is opened oxygen is introduced into the keg and the beer will go off very quickly once it's oxygenated.
There is also no way to introduce more Co2 into the keg without buying extra expensive equipment.
