If you prefer cans, Tescos are doing a 12 * 440ml Speckled box (5.28L) for £11 at the moment. Cans fit in the fridge and retain pressure till the ring is pulled

1 - If your getting foam for the first few pints you havent left it to stand long enough. Needs to rest in the place your keeping it for the day at least. If your buying it, putting it down then opening it your going to get just foam.
2 - The tip to getting the pints out properly is to use the pressure relief at the top. Slowly open it as your pour your beers.
If its going flat too quickly youve opened the pressure relief at the top too much too quickly and its got no air in the keg.
Last 2 Ive had Ive had fine following that and I got a good 5 days out of it. My friend brought one round a few months back, plonked it down in my kitchen and opened it and got the result you said.

Got 8 cornies here, 4 fit in the keezer at any one time. For heading out, I'll just draw some out into plastic bottles and top up co2 using one of these carbonation caps
Which also comes in handy for cleaning the beer lines!

Budvar is an amazing Czech beer. Rated very highly on the worldwide beer taste scale.
There's 2 valves on the tins, one for pouring and one on top to regulate the air flow being drawn in, if your getting froth u need to close this up a lot!
Never had any issues myself in either pouring or getting through a tin over 2 nights or 1 heavy night.

Both correct. Mini kegs generally more portable though.

As been said , we got some of these over Xmas. The first few pints are just like from the pub! But I would only say after no more then two days and they are flat. And it is a skill getting the last pint out.

Same here. My nearest store is a hell-hole. One visit was enough. If I do want anything from Morrisons, I'll order it online. Shame, on this occasion, because I'd have gone straight for the Budvar.

great for anyone who does homebrew, as the empty kegs can be reused.
As empty kegs are £5-£6 each - it makes the beer even cheaper.
Anyone with empty kegs, could try selling them on EBay. Homebrewers know replacement bungs can be purchased cheaply & Co2 canisters used, along with dedicated keg dispensers like the one above or a Party Star Tap

If you've got a spare £140 to do all that and the C02 costs then yes, if not this is a very good option.

27 Apr 17#61
Or even better buy a Corney keg if your into homebrewing, you'll never regret it. Once you get your first one they seem to breed and before you know you'll have a small family of them in the shed.
lmcshera
27 Apr 17#60
Exactly right. Only makes sense to buy a £50 CO2 tap plus bungs & gas if you are reusing them for homebrew. Unless you plan to drink a lot of mini kegs I suppose.

If you`re struggling with fridge issues or faffing about with pouring and storing, then this is probably a better deal.
18 x 500 ml bottles for £21 (9 litres) as opposed to 10 litres for £20 (2 kegs)
Brought one of these at Christmas and it was sour, took it back to morrisons and they wouldn't refund.

How long do these last once you have started drinking them? And I mean that in a once opened type of way.

Says to serve within 3 days of opening. So you could probibly get 5 if well chilled. Just don't have onions in your fridge.

It says 3 days but I'm sure it would last about a week, not sure what the dispensing method is though
Johnny_boy to marvinuk

Turning the valve off after use should increase the time. Otherwise it will probably be flat after a couple of days. As long as it remains open it is leaking pressure.

You'll be very lucky to get three days of tasty beer once opened.
The problem is after the second pint all the Co2 in the keg that is used to carbonate and also push the beer out is used up and you have to open the top valve to release the vacuum that is now preventing the beer from flowing out. Once this top valve is opened oxygen is introduced into the keg and the beer will go off very quickly once it's oxygenated.
There is also no way to introduce more Co2 into the keg without buying extra expensive equipment.

Some of these are ales, though. Wouldn't drink a cold Hobgoblin; wouldn't drink a warm Budweiser. Come to think of it, wouldn't drink Budweiser at all if there was Hobgoblin available!

Going on my experience from Christmas, the Hobgoblin keg goes flat very quickly [3 days is a marketing exaggeration]. The first few pints are half foam half ale and next few half flat and the last pint is the devil's own work to get out of the keg.

Sounds like the follow up to 'Sleepless in Seattle'.
