looks good but no HDR Compatible HDMI or usb in which is a bit of a let down.
also having to buy extra speakers makes it even more expensive and I'm not sure how much content has Atmos.

Much better sound quality? Yamaha receivers are pretty much as good as it gets if you listen to music, movies are pretty great as well, my Monitor Audio GX200 don't complain. Then, I'm using a more expensive yamaha amp, what I'm saying is, if you want a basic av amplifier, this is really great, the sound quality will be excellent, grab yourself some bookshelf speakers and you have a very nice everyday setup WAAAAAY better than a soundbar! (way louder too!) Atmos at this price point is pointless, I'm a little biased as I'm not a fan of the onkyos either, harsh sound and silly name. haha
