I am sure there are stories about all providers but BT are just horrendous - lovely people, always very pleasant on the phone but they cannot sort out the many problems that their system creates. All support can do is offer apologies and make a note, and then nothing happens.

Wouldn't renew with BT if it was free!!!

I had problems with Sky fibre before I switched but nothing that compares to the problems with BT.

I'm only naming a couple of issues as my hands would start to hurt from all the typing! Double billing for the first three months, each time told it wouldn't happen again!, cancelling services on the day of activation just because they felt like it, internet went down for the two weeks at christmas, which means the tv stops working too...

Family and friends have had issues as well so its not just us.

stay away from BT!

Just come on to say quidco has been paid and withdrawn, but seems I'm late to the party (y)

I first got charged a premium membership of £5 for no reason, but complained online and now got the full £160 in the end.

Very chuffed at BT that they paid out, made this deal (with the £200 master card that I received) absolutely incredible. Thanks op (party)

Bt Taking now the p. when i claimed my reward on the 27th April it stated it could take 20 days on the webpage.
On the email it said aprox 30 days , on the contact page it stated 30 days ( 45 days if bt mobile)
so i contacted them and got this response.

"Thank you for your patience while we’ve been investigating this matter.
It take's a minimum of 30 and up to a maximum of 45 days to deliver your Reward Card from the date of your claim, which was submitted on 27/04/17.
Request you to wait as according to above time period we still have some days left."

I just know there will be nothing after 45 days had this hassle a few years back with a Salisbury card took months for them to send had to keep on at them.

The claim page updated to show a dispatch date of 26th April.
Card activation email arrived on 18th May (exactly one month after broadband activation)

Got a bit of a problem with using Paypal to withdraw the funds into a bank account (need to pay a tradesman in cash, not using a card).

I used the method of sending a request to a secondary email address. Received the request, and attempted to pay without using a paypal account - just giving the card details. Problem - paypal said unable to proceed, and money didn't arrive in my account, yet they took the £200 from the card as a pending transaction.

Now the balance on the card is £0.00. Now what?

Edit: £200 has gone back onto the credit card automatically after a few minutes.

Hi
I went for the cheapest option.
TP Link N300 from Argos for £29.99. It was recommended by a mod on the bt care forums, even he was slating the Smart Hub! It has no 5ghz band, only 2.4ghz so if that would be an issue then perhaps consider a more expensive one. You need an ADSL/VDSL modem with BT Infinity and you need to input these settings

Login details
Broadband Username [email protected]
Password bt

The TP Link by and large has been decent for me, no more dropouts which was my biggest issue. Yes, the signal isnt as strong on 2.4ghz but its not caused me any trouble.
If you go over to the bt forums others are asking the same questions.

I understand but as I mentioned I do literally all my shopping online, and online retailers are unlikely to split amongst cards, certainly Amazon was unwilling and I'm sure others would be too. I may try to exchange it with someone who does more shopping in bricks and mortar stores as a last resort.
psynnott
9 May 17 #1449
If you have £10 left on the card (as an example) you can use it as part payment for an item. Then you can use another card or cash for the remaining amount. You just need to tell the retailer you want to do this and most will happily oblige.
Hathawayp5
9 May 17 #1448
Anyone had any success putting the prepaid card into your bank account? I also tried the PayPal option and was put off by the fee. I tried buying an amazon gift card, but was refused. Looked into Google Wallet, but they ended that ability a couple or so years ago. Looked into the Revolut banking app, and again payment was refused.
I do all my shopping online and so cannot split payments to make sure I use up the full amount. I doubt I'll be able to use the card up to exactly £200, so I'm bound to lose something once the card expires, which irks me a bit.

TCB £161.60 is being processed via BACS. Should be in the bank account within 3 days.

There was also an option to get the cashback including a bonus 10% to be spent at Debenhams (£177.76).

Very pleased BT has paid out the TCB cashback amount.

Hopefully those that ordered from this deal via TCB and Quidco, will start to see your cashback is ready.

£160 cashback is at retailer decision stage, due on 24th May hopefully. Still waiting for my card to arrive however I didnt apply for it until the end of April.
I ended up selling both the YouView box and Smart Hub on ebay for a £60 profit as i had issues with it. This funded a better router so pretty satisfied

However, I took the Youview box (I set BT up for my parents), and it's a great little box. Used to use my parent's old sky box (no recording, freeview only), but this has live pause which is great for making a cuppa. Nice and fast menus too.

Anyone paid the £160 by quidco yet? Mine is at the "retailer decision" stage, supposedly to be "available on 24th May".

The £200 Mastercard, to the extent that it is like a debit rather than credit card, had an advantage at Costco, where it was spent a couple of days ago.

Am also happy to report that broadband is as described and rock solid. The YouView box never made it out of its box

boabbyrab

Ordered my card on the 4th April, received an email Thursday that the card will arrive 7-10 days, take into account 3 bank holidays and it would be 30 days, give or take few but card recieved today.
Taking the £130 paid to BT in the last 2 weeks that's £70.

Would have been better if rather than give you £200 card they take £200 off your bill and yes i know i could pay line rental in advance but will probably jump ship when BT raise their prices again later this year.

Got the card today, activated, and saw the following (rather long list of) restrictions:

"You are able to use your card in most places that accept Mastercard®

Please note your Card cannot under any circumstances be used for making payments at CAT terminals, [email protected] terminals, toll roads and bridges, car parking, automated train ticket machines, obtaining foreign currency, for subscriptions or automated periodic payments, gambling, or any illegal goods or services. Another option, if you're planning to buy a big ticket item (>£200) ask the retailer to take payment in two parts. Pay £200 on the BT card, and the remainder on your usual card.

That's what I'm planning to do - let's see if it works.

Otherwise I'll use for small transactions - a 3.5% fee is way too much!

Another option to have easy access to the balance on the card, if you are a regular Amazon user, if just to add it as a giftcard purchase, seems to have worked for me just adding it to my balance and will then just pay for items I order in the future, might not suit everyone but its an option instead of remembering to use it in multiple shops/purchases?

First bill was £123 which included the connection/equipment fee of ~£60

I have already had one replacement smart hub as the first one bascially self destructed when we had a power cut, I then had a two hour argument with three different departments telling me I would have to pay £120 for an engineer visit, once we got past that 'policy' they told me if I wanted just a replacement that would be £60 - when complaining loud enough they eventually put me through to a department (no idea where or what) who said as the hub was only 3 weeks old as a goodwill gesture (WTF!) they would send one free of charge on this occasion only!

No end of issues with the HH being incompatible with equipment in the house, SONOS, Synology NAS both seem to be problematic, the wifi when split into two bands seems to connect/reconnect when it chooses - leaving it shared is even worse with dropped connections and as above non working equipment, the initial speed of 50 mbps is now more around late 30's/early 40's but I just cant be bothered to ring BT to complain unless it goes any slower in the future!

No Cashback card received (my 30 days is up on Thursday) so will probably end up on another merry go round of phone calls and passed from dept to dept to get that.

Overall wish I had stayed with Sky (cant believe I am saying that) but in 14 years other than the cost I never had one problem that wasn't resolved in less than 24 hours and never needed a new router/hub because of a power cut!!!!

Maybe they can't handle the volumes ? this was a very popular offer here and most likely other sites that have a similar theme like MSE.
It's not BT who handle them either, it's R. Raphael & Sons who will no doubt handle other companies reward cards.

No sign of the £200 Mastercard yet. It was claimed on the 29th March. So still a few days left before the 30 days is up.

Don't understand why they say it can take up to 30 days to arrive. As far as I am aware it isn't being sent from the other side of the planet via boat.

Ok, so i have been connected now for 3 weeks and heres my initial thoughts.....

Personally, i have experienced no issues at all however both my son and daughter are having issues relating to the wifi. His Xbox is playing up and my daughters Hauwei Phone is randomly disconnecting from the wifi saying incorrect password. Reading it could be an issue with HH6? Is there a fix to this or would it be a good idea to ditch for a HH5 and flog the 6 on ebay??

Also, i still have no first bill from them, in fact I have received no comms from them at all which i'm finding a bit strange.

Thanks guys, waiting for a call from Sky now to take the line back. It'll be a new contract for standard BB with them - so probably a worse deal objectively speaking - but just don't have the time to be messed around by BT any more. Spoke to them yesterday and apparently they put a new order through for the £200 card to be applied, but it's still not showing when I go to claim. All the people I've spoken to have been very pleasant, but their system seems completely broken. So, back to Sky it is!

BT have also confirmed and made a note that no cancellation charges will apply. Fingers crossed

I've done quite a bit of research last night, and eventually went back to a HomeHub 5, and my problems are instantly fixed.
Also, other misbehaving WiFi devices (Sky Q, Xbox) are working without issues, as it was not specifically my S7 as I initially thought.
Googling and reading, these SmartHub 6 devices are struggling with certain wifi chipsets.
Advice appears to be, buy another non BT HH6 or use an older HH5/4.

Again, with my HH5, all is rosy in my garden off wifi.

I'm having wifi issues when streaming live sport over the xbox with my HH6 whereas the HH5 was no problem at all.
I have always had the issue with the Samsung S6 though, where I cannot properly load videos or images etc. I knock the wifi off and it works instantly.

I am having so many issues with my Samsung S7 and this Smarthub 6 they supply...

I have googled and I'm not the only one, they have attempted to fix it but most people are buying replacment routers or using the older Homehub 5.

Luckily I do have a HH5 in the garage, but I was hoping to use the 6 for the extended wifi and other bonuses..

Anyone else?

p.s. I don't see the fuss of getting the money off the card asap, just use it for daily spends, supermarket, petrol etc?

Or.....potentially you could speak with BT and if they have taken your line and activated the deal. The. The original terms should be live and you should get your £200 Mastercard as part of the deal.

Ultimatly down to if you have the patiance to wait for them to go through phone recordings if they say that the agreement to cancel didnt take place. During all this it is messy as you will have parts of contract between BT and Sky if you use any part of the service.

You should have recieved a letter from Sky if yoy were leaving, giving you a timescale as to when you can dispute the takeover to stop it from happening.

20 Apr 17 #1372
After BT advised you the order had been cancelled, did you check the BT Order Tracker web page a few hours later to confirm it had been cancelled? I know a friend who had to phone BT again a few days later when it was evident the order had not been cancelled according to the Order Tracker.

If Sky advised you had to agree to a 'new' contract, I think there is a usually a 14 day cooling off period, so there shouldn't be any cancellation charges from Sky if you change your mind. Worth phoning Sky to check.

Hi all, we took advantage of this deal on the last day of the offer and are having a bit of a nightmare experience... Guess I should've paid attention to the warnings about BT but I'd be very grateful to anyone willing to read my story of woe and offer any thoughts on what to do!

About a week after placing the order had a call from BT - apparently there'd been an error with the order and although they would take over the line on the 5th April as planned, they would have to put through a separate order for broadband and phone packages. The lady said she'd phone back nearer the time.

31st March, I get an email with what seemed to be a completely new order, due to go live April 19 (today). Checked and the original order had been cancelled. Hey ho, I'd long abandoned any thought of getting cashback anyway, but I phoned BT because several details of the new order were totally wrong. The bloke adjusted the order to match the original one and made sure the £200 card was still applied.

Yesterday (last day of the new order's cooling off period) we got cold feet and phoned to cancel, dreading what was to come with BT. They confirmed it would be cancelled and we would stay with Sky. Fine. Dodged a bullet there, I thought.

This morning, the line went dead. My worst fears were confirmed when I phoned Sky and they said that BT had indeed taken over the line anyway.

Sky have now raised a dispute with BT to take it back - but since we're now with BT we'll apparently have to enter a new contract to move back. When I asked of they would match BT the best the guy said he could offer was free ADSL broadband with £15 line rental, or a bit off fibre and a reduced activation fee (can't remember how much exactly.)

Trouble is, I think BT might try and charge for cancellation if we go back to Sky, as we're now 'in contract' - although the woman on the phone did acknowledge this was unfair as I did ask to cancel yesterday.

I don't really care whether we have broadband with Sky or BT, I don't even really care if it's fibre or not - I just want to get out of this situation without having to pay through the nose for a new contract or paying cancellation charges through no fault of my own! Any suggestions on what to do would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance helpful folks of HUKD!

It is with parcelforce of course. Because BT did not know it was a bank holiday long weekend. Yes, that's right, something that has been in place for over two years, and they did not realise meaning that the hardware was not shipped in time for today.

We were activated on the 31st March and our first bill is £116.79 - including the one-off, £69.99 kit charges. Making the bill itself £46.52. I mistakenly made a mobile call which was 28p so the total rental and other charges comes to £46.80. We also took out the extra call plan for unlimited calls at £8.99.

Then follows lots of different, little charges, for things like BT Privacy Caller Display, 40p and £1.75, being added on then taken off?! I'm going to see what happens next month before ring but it just feels like they've made the bill over complicated on purpose!

I will just wait until the contract ends, and then will initiate all the process, even if it means paying half a month (installation time) at "full" price, just to make sure they don't flag my account or anything.
xCxS
11 Apr 17 #1330
Yeah the name shouldn't matter at all, however, I think if I was in your position (still in contract) I would probably be worrying about whether or not the BT system would flag it. I am fairly confident they won't but if in doubt, just use your partners name etc.

I assume you are going to buy the new contract, and then set the date for the day after your current contract ends? You should then get the letter I got, which states someone else is wanting to take the line, and you will just get your final bill after it transfers over.

It was all pretty simple and I too was sceptical about both the cashback side of things, as well as not advising them I was leaving my (out of contract) contract.
Lert
11 Apr 17 #1329

I can vouch for the comments made by PKRichie.

I literally just did this. I was out of contract, and BT were trying to get me to give them notice AND pay the cease fee which is BS tbh...

I signed up as a new customer, with the exact same details as previous. I got a letter in the post saying that someone (me) was trying to take over the existing line (also me) and so long as I didn't object to it within 7 days, the line would move to the "new customer" (still me). A final bill would then be sent and the account closed.

I just received the final bill over the weekend and I was in credit by £9.56... BONUS!

10 Apr 17 #1325
Place the order as if you've never been with BT, if you're out of contract have it start asap, if in contract and you had equipment with the previous contract, start the new account on the day your old account contract ends.

Even in your name again, BT will see you as a new customer and it'll be a new account, not sure how TCB will see it though.
All of this has been previously answered in this thread though.
Lert
10 Apr 17 #1324
Thanks. But sorry, I don't get it. Should I just sign up again with TCB and BT with my name, I don't think that will go through as new customer. Probably will go with a "new name" just in case, but I'm not sure if I will be getting charged for ceasing my contract after it ends or if the new "owner" will cancel that extra charge, as the line will continue to exist.

In fact, I don't even care to lose the phone number, just want to know how to proceed as I'm a bit confused.

Also, not sure if it's better to order the new line like 1 week before the contract ends, so the switch starts its road.

Thanks for your answer

Hi guys, one question from a newbie on these things.

I know this deal it's expired, but there's still offers with TCB and the mastercard.

My BT contract will end in the next month, can my partner sign up to get the new customers deal for the same address/phone number? And I will probably receive the letter saying someone will take over my line, right?

Thanks!

I place order on March 21st and line went live today. My account was showing £150 Reward card available to claim so had to reach out to CS (0800 800 150). I tried by chat but they had to dial me back and put e through to the correct CS team.

BT had me down as placing order on March 23rd. They asked to submit the £150 reward claim and then they raised a query for correcting it to £200. I was told as its weekend it will be early next week that I should get feedback of the correction.

Hope that order date issue does not impact my TopCashback!

Lost line connection first thing in the morning. Line came live for calls around 10.30am. Engineer call around 12pm when Fibre went live. Was not expecting a visit. I had left the BT hub plugged in and was blinking purple but on engineer's arrival it had turn constant blue.

Broadband is OK although it seems that torrents are possibly being restricted, it was better with Sky at a third of the bandwidth. so far I am seeing nearly all torrents being processed at 2 figure speeds, rarely climbing above 100kb/s, maybe its just an unlucky coincidence and these are just slow links.

Is it normal that the phone line is still dead, do I need to chase BT or is it something that takes longer.

As above.
Log in, your account number is there.
Then go to the link posted above and claim it.
I claimed at the beginning of the week and it is scheduled to be posted out today.

I was sceptical at first with cashback, but I've ordered several things in the last two years and always got the cash back in the given timeframe. My preferred route is Quidco, but TCP has also worked for me recently when Quidco crashed over Black Friday.

Just sign up, search for "BT" on their site, and click through the shown deal.
It will open up a new window (the BT website) and you'll get a notification on cashback page to say whether it tracked or not.

At the time of the original deal, Quidco were giving £100 for Broadband & Phone, and also £160 for BB, phone and TV. The TV package most of us went for cost £10.00 as a one off fee so effectively they gave us £50 back for nothing!

TCP matched those deals I believe so just check each site and see what the best deal is for you.

For a lot of us, the money side worked out as follows:

£28.99/ month x 12 = £347.88
£347.88 + £60 (Set up fee) + £10 TV box = £417.88

£417.88 - £200 (BT Giftcard) = £217.88
£217.88 - £160 (Cashback) = £57.88

£57.88 ÷ 12 months = £4.82/ month

So anyone still asking if its a good deal, those are the numbers!
Under a fiver per month, for 50+mb BB, phoneline and basic TV package (which includes BT sport for free until July 31st should you want it)...

Obviously bear in mind this was the original deal, which expired a while back, but just transpose the current deal in to the figures above to work out what you will pay.

HEEEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTTT!

Installation scheduled for today. Sky switched the service off before 9am in the morning :disappointed:. Luckily I have already registered for and have access to a reasonable BTwifi-with-FON signal in the neighbourhood, providing internet access to various machines throughout the day. At just before 7pm I was informed by both txt and email that phone line was up, and similarly broadband came on-stream just after 8pm. Broadband installation literally took 3 minutes, consisted of unplugging signal cable from sky hub and plugging it straight into the bt hub, connect power lead, press on-off button, wait for colour to change from green (to flashing orange/red momentarily :smirk:) to blue. Testing with the bt wholesale speedtest on pc showed 52Mbps down and 9Mpbs up, well pleased! For under a £5iver a month, the OP certainly deserves a huge thankyou!

It is going to take a bit of planning to finalise the setup, I think, with dual band same ssid and all that. To start off with though, I am just going to take the lazy option - by renaming the ssid and password to the same as those on my old Sky hub, rather than requiring every single user having to reconfigure every machine that used my broadband previously...

Cheers!

If so did they replace it with a filtered socket or just a standard socket?

They've fitted a standard socket for me, it feels like a missed opportunity for a filtered face plate.

Engineer was due on Friday to complete the install, took the day off to wait for them and potter around doing a few jobs at home (pulling CAT6 cables to the upstairs bedrooms and various other networking jobs).
3pm get a message saying no engineer visit is needed, and that order is delayed.. Ring them up and there is an issue at the exchange that they will sort today (4/4/17).. Just had a message from them saying its now all working, will check when I get home..
Attempting to claim reward card they have dropped it from a £200 card to a £150 card, so need to harass them about that tonight, see why they have reduced my cashback!!

Depends on the date you signed up

From 28.03.17 until 10.04.17 new to BT customers are eligible for a £75 BT Reward Card when ordering a BT Broadband package and a £125 BT Reward Card when ordering a BT Infinity package. Existing BT Broadband customers upgrading to BT Infinity or those adding just BT TV are excluded.

From 22.03.17 until 27.03.17 new to BT customers are eligible for a £100 BT Reward Card when ordering a BT Broadband package and a £150 BT Reward Card when ordering a BT Infinity package. Existing BT Broadband customers upgrading to BT Infinity or those adding just BT TV are excluded.

From 15.03.17 until 21.03.17 new to BT customers are eligible for a £150 BT Reward Card when ordering a BT Broadband package and a £200 BT Reward Card when ordering a BT Infinity package. Existing BT Broadband customers upgrading to BT Infinity or those adding just BT TV are excluded.

My posts today have been about this very problem... It pays to read Comments

It took me 4 different people but eventually I got them to finally admit they missed my sports off. I added the £5/month HD extra pack. This includes bt sport. If you didn't select that or just the standard sport pack then you don't get it as default. You can add it to your account and it's free til July 31st then 3.50/month for SD Content or 5/month for the HD.

BT Sport is an addon for BT TV, you can add anytime and remove with 30 days notice.
It'll be free until July 31st, then £3.50 p/m from August 1st.
It will recontract your broadband for 12 months but at the same price you pay now, your discounts remain in place.

Yep, I was all up and running before I left for work this morning

Woke up to no connectivity with Sky though; it was a very tense household for about half an hour!

Already claimed the £200 - its been dispatched too, apparently? The £160 Quidco tracked nicely as well so as it stand, so I've no complaints.

Not even opened the TV box thing, is there any point? Might flog it on eBay! Keep hearing about free sport through it but isn't that a defunct offer now? With Sky TV already, I literally have no use for the box...
AAB
31 Mar 17 #1266
My phone, fibre and TV (free starter pack) got activated today without any problems and I've also put it the claim for £200 reward, which was straightforward to do.

But I don't have bt sports, I thought I would get it automatically with the starter TV package, but that's not the case.

So I've tried to add it online, but it will only allow me if I accept a new 18 months contract for starter TV AND broadband. Now that is a bummer, because it means I'll have to pay the full price for fibre for the last 6 months, after my deal ends.

Is there anyway to get round this? Anyone else came across the same problem?

Do you mean Sky Broadband or BT on Sky for TV?

If you mean BT TV, you have to call BT up and give 30 days notice to cancel as its a seperate contract to your phone and broadband package.
Thats what they told me anyhow and it generated a seperate order number that was a cancelation of that service.

BT initially introduced a broadband cessation charge some years ago to discourage dodgy ISPs from ceasing lines instead of providing a MAC when their customers tried to leave, and also to try to stop ISPs that were going bust, and their wholesalers from trying to force customers by withholding their MAC, into joining a new ISP that they'd been sold to, typically with an unfavourable contract and ceasing their broadband if the former customer didn't accept.

I believe it now supposedly covers the cost of work required in the event of cease. If you migrate there shouldn't be a charge.
xCxS
31 Mar 17 #1260
Up until now, I fully agree with the above post.
I was a BT Customer who was out of contract and the CS advisor told me exactly what you have read there. I argued that I was out of contract so why on earth would I have to pay it but they insisted.

I decided to just take out a brand new contract and received a letter a few days ago explaining that someone wanted to take over my line and if I didn't respond within a week they would allow the transfer and then just produce a final bill. If there is no cease charge on that bill, then we are right.

The 1571 service was added via online account after the original order went live. Contacted TCB as the BT page says to contact them for changes to orders just to be on the safe side. 1571 order got its own order reference. Received a reply from TCB to say BT may not allow the original order cashback. They did say to contact them if it happens and they will try to resolve it.

I don't recall the option to add the 1571 service during the order process. I suppose I may have missed it during the order process.

Possibly a sneaky way for BT to decline paying cashback to TCB and Quidco? Does seem silly. It is an additional purchase after the original order has gone active/been fulfilled.

Has anyone had BT Quidco/TCB cashback issues for situations like the above?

I put what I thought I had previously read from a thread somewhere on hukd. So many comments lately on ISP offers taht I may have incorrectly remembered. The comment said something like, your line rental charge won't be going up in price during your contract as it has been paid in advance for 12 months.. So if the ISP increases the monthly line cost during your contract, you couldn't use that reason to leave penalty free as you aren't having an increase in line cost. Although other ISP price hikes could be a reason to break the contract penalty free.

Incorrect, if you're leaving due to a price rise you can leave without termination charges and the line rental saver is refunded, if you have 6 months left, 6 months would be refunded.

BT Sport is an addon for BT TV, you can add anytime and remove with 30 days notice.
It'll be free until July 31st, then £3.50 p/m from August 1st.
It will recontract your broadband for 12 months but at the same price you pay now, your discounts remain in place.
It won't affect your quidco claim or rewards card, they're tied to the original order which has now completed and closed, adding BT Sports is a different order

I've got my first complaint and I'm super annoyed.
I took the TV, broadband deal for 160 quidco.
The starter pack states that bt sport is included and what happens when I install and setup... Its not there. Called the team and they've said it needs to be added and that someone can do it next week (cheers guys  ) but they will have to start a new contract for me...

Is this likely to affect my quidco claim?
thetarget
30 Mar 17 #1240

Be aware that paying the line rental in advance will lock you in when BT puts up prices. People aren't doing this as when line price increases come along they can get out of the contract without penalty. This is why several people have recently moved away from Sky and BT penalty free mid contract.

Choice is yours if yout don't mind the full 12 month contract or want some freedom to potentially get out and take up a deal with another ISP should price hikes happen.

BT is up and running for my parents.

The £200 voucher has been claimed and an email confirmation has been received. Simple process to claim.

1571 service has now been added via online account. Contacted TCB with that order ref, just in case it could hinder the initial cashback claim. There was a note on TCB about informing them of order changes. Although this is really a separate order. No changes were made from the initial order being placed to the service becoming active.

Only issue with the BT Smart Hub is it only has 3 channels for 2.4GHz and they are rather crowded in the neighbourhood.

I set up the BT HH5 they were using with their plusnet service as an access point upstairs connected via homeplugs. The following are useful if you need to do something similar:

https://community.bt.com/t5/Connected-Devices-Other/Re-Extending-wifi-signal-of-hh5-using-a-hh3/m-p/1609883#M121053

Connect two BT Hubs together as access point youtube video

I made the SSID names the same for the HH6 and HH5 with separate ones for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. That way my parents won't have to keep manually connecting around the house if they wander and wifi at the same time

BT CEO [email protected]

Or you can go via the official complaint procedure:- https://www.bt.com/help/home/complaints.html

I know from following an isp forum that the previous BT CEO was very hot on resolving genuine complaints and I gather the current one is similar:- https://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/sep/18/customer-complaint-ceo-better-than-customer-services would help if you are clear and concise and provide sufficient details to identify your order.

My personal experience of ofcom was they were worse than absolutely useless when my ISP went bust and an ISP took over my phoneline's adsl tag for a month and refused to provide a MAC or any internet access unless I paid them for a long, overpriced contract with them, effectively hijacking my line and preventing me getting internet access for over a month until they ceased my connection.

The regulate the market, a complaint - they record it (if valid) against the telco and send it on to telco - if that does not work then you go to Alternative Dispute Resolution which frowns upon its 'members' as it knows Ofcom only record valid complaints.

Ofcom recorded complaints then make the polls for accurate representation of its figures - why Vodafone in mobile telco keeps winning the losing trophy.

The same team deal with complaints via Ofcom or CEO office. Might as well record a official complaint - as Orange Broadband, EE & now Vodafone (this year) have announced thousands of new UK jobs this year, complaints with Ofcom work, telcos take notice - as I said whatever route you take it ends up at the same team, but via Ofcom is extra bite if you need to go to ADR.
Newbold

I doubt it - not much point in contacting Ofcom because:

What we do not do
We are not responsible for regulating disputes between you and your telecoms provider;

CEO's office is the only way to get any sense out of BT - they have a separate team in the call centre just dealing with CEO complaints because of the sheer volume of them now.

It's 30 days notice to cancel, a working line line takeover takes around 14 days, you won't be billed for services used after that date.
If there were charges it would tell you how much in the letter, so what you've received is what you want, it means your order to take over your old account is going through.

If that is in fact true, then what a load of crap the customer service advisor was speaking, telling me I still had to give them 30 days notice, despite being out of contract!

Just had a whatsapp message from account holder (or what would have been the account holder) BT are doing the same, confirmed twice via Live Chat takeover was 4th (as from order selection) from last Tues, last time confirmed was on Sat. BT Login and 'Track My Order' can't trace it, Sky say no transfer requested - so they went Live Chat - but now say they need to submit a new order. But that would take the transfer date beyond Sky's 30 days satisfaction and account holder would be billed to leave Sky for 11 months.

26 Mar 17 #1185
sorry,stopped what?
what I meant was, normally when you buy a TV,the sellers send your details to TV License and they will then start sending TV license demand letters to your door with your name,so I was wondering if buying this BT TV box that comes with this broadband deal have the same effect? I really don't care for it,it's just the cashback that comes with it that i want.

Glad I am free from BT now.Worst customer service.
ordered on 17th with 160 TCB and 200 card.
22nd overseas call centre some thing wrong order cancelled.
22nd again person 2 overseas Ist person was wrong new order placed.
23 I phoned as both orders showing cancelled online.UK call centre they told me there is a case officer who will phone me 24th.
24th case officer(anoksha) there is a line cease order by nowtv(my current provider) so order cannot go ahead but 17th order is still in the system and if I get cease order lifted by nowtv and this will go through.
24th phoned nowtv twice they said that there is no cease on line.and they are not allowed to withold line from other provider.
24th phoned BT this time steve uk customer service who understood everything ,said he can not see a cease on the line now and there is a scheduled call by order team on 25 th and I should tell her to refresh the order and will not change order number or order date but go live date may change.
25th received a phone call from (anoksha again) that if cease is lifted She will place a new phone order but when told about steve and her own call yesterday that original order is still there.she said no it has been too long in system and cancelled.
So I asked about bt reward card and TCB.She obviously did not know about TCB but said probably I wont be eligible for bt card as this will be a phone order now and not online.
So I cancelled everything with bt ordered after wasting so many days
Is there an email to senior management where I can send this whole story.

I don't use TV so don't want getting bomered with TV liecende letters.

Let's just crap BT and go back to GPO - maybe Open Teach can go on the cheap with colleges and universities and plough profits into a open network for all, even NFP/cooperative community based ISPs . Selling public assets off has cost billions more to the tax payer. GPO Open Teach can plough profits into Post Office and sell its own phone system, not a private company that makes profit of it, TT.

I flashed my BT Hub 5A with openwrt to use it directly on sky (standard BT firmware is locked). Told BT order team on Live Chat it is a transfer that must be done by X date as it's under Sky 30 day satisfaction and they said transfer as planned on order - takeover remains the same (saved the Live Chat). I've still got my HH5 in a cupboard at home when I left in 2015 due to price rises, the bill I think includes YV & HH hardware charges but BT can't confirm that, or any bill but want £200 lol yeah right BT. I know you can flash them but I've got a (£20 at order upgrade) Sky Q hub which defo works better than the SR 102 hub.

I will defo give the email a proper read, BT service at that address ended on billing date so await a final (incorrect) bill no doubt. May take the HH5 to mine and flash it as the Sky £64 deal is a SR102, but they run fine there as Wifi is only used on the same level, and even with Sky on Demand catch-up it's 3 metres from the Sky hub.

I flashed my HH5 before and run on Sky BB until I got the Q Hub in Dec. Gave the YV box away to someone, need to source a cheap one now as Sky TV is getting 30 days notice soon as it's mainly catch up, BBC News & Sport they watch. Might even consider Freesat box as Eurosport is free, 6-7 weeks to research/plan. BT Sports/half price Sky is costing them a fortune, even more upcoming now BT binned and half price Sky ending.

Freesat (including catch up) or YV...hmmmm

Just setup my online part and because I have used same email address it is on the same login, but just as a drop down box where I chose the different account number.
Last night I gave 30 days notice to cancel my current BT Sports on Sky, so that cancelation is now under way.

Just hope that with it being on same BT login that it doesn't flag as not being a new customer!? Topcashback has tracked and it shows all order details as 'taking over line' for the broadband and phone line.

I just wonder, will this auto cancel my cuttent monthly costs for broadband and phone or will I have to call to cancel? Hopefully cancels itself and I get a 'sorry your leaving BT' letter for that account number.

Nothing's ever easy, but hope this works out ok!? Still can't see where I can get the entertainment added for £3 a month (half price offer that was there on order), may have missed the boat on that part. Hopefully the switchover goes through OK. I haven't had any emails to tell me my current line has had a transfer request and it is supposed to happen in 9 days. Can't really call them incase it all gets rumbled and I totally lose out.

Thoughts from any of experts or people in the know how or what to expect??

When I left BT, I received several requests from them via email and post, to return my bt hub and my BT youview+ box, including being sent a bag to return them in, but if you read them carefully you'll probably find it is just inviting you to do so if you so wish. Do check your T&Cs, but I believe you are only obliged to return them if you cancel during the cooling off period.

Here's a clip from a BT email I received.

Hello,

We're sorry you no longer need your BT equipment.

If you've already sent your equipment back to us, you can ignore this email. We must still be processing the return in our warehouse.

If you haven't, and want to help us become a greener company and protect the environment, you can follow the instructions below to send it back for recycling. Many of our customers choose to do this.

I'm still using my youview+ box to record TV and I flashed my BT hub with openwrt and use it to connect to sky adsl, as the BT hub wifi is way better than that on my lousy sky router.

1. How long was it before your current ISP contacted you about leaving for BT.

Starter TV only allows BT Sports on the YV Mini box over your BT BB, or using it on any other person BT broadband with TV activated on that BB account. The £5 versions allow you to watch anywhere (app/online) including the option for Sky (£6 last year with BT BB ? from £20/1?). I don't care for losing BT Sports if they try to up the price, I'll negotiate a discount if they put it up or consider leaving esp if Quidco/MasterCard get messed up and unpaid by the date of increase - which will be a shame to lose cheap fibre but I'm not going to get messed about with.

That was the same for me. Only additional ask was if I wanted AMC for free, which I ticked.
My reading (glad others read the same) was paying £10 connection and BT Sports says that it is 'free during minimum contract'. TV minimum contract is 12 months. So BT Sports free for 12 months.

Did seem a no brainier as I remember a year ago considering the same, but opted to pay £5 a month to keep it clean and add it to Sky instead. Now I believe they are putting up to £7.50 a month so not worth the conviniance.

The only thing I'm unsure of is if I can use the BT App for free or not having selected Starter. With the Sky option I can use the App and also got a email message from BT saying 'Watch BT Sport on the App and online while you wait for BT TV'
So unsure if that means, as it says, just whilst waiting or a reminder I can watch that way!?

I have posted links to BT saying BT Sport is INCLUDED in Starter, £0pm starter TV with BT sports for 12 month TV term and a mini YV box and £10 activation. Can you put the postcode/details in here and tell us what LLU providers come up ? is Sky on it ?

LLU means Sky, TitTalk, Vodafone etc have their own hardware at the exchange you connect to, it means they don't resell BT Wholesale products. Can you elaborate on the letter info mate ? We might get plenty customers out of contract and on better deals

I cant see Sky selling its own LLU network off, but old o2 & Sky Connect 'BT Wholesale' customers sound like they are being sold off, if you could explain the letters it would help clarify if Sky LLU broadband has been sold (possible given the Sky/Murdoch bid) or if it is just BT Wholesale provided SKY products that are being taken over. I've always whored between Plusnet and Sky every alternate year over the past 5 years or so, taking advantage of their cheap new customer deals. This is my first time with BT, though. No worries, welcome

Not sure how the date works out as no BT OpenReach engineer needed, same company transfer so yes they probably did just take the end date of the current minimum term. Today one of the Sky £64 transfers went through today for someone I sorted & the BT OR engineer confirmed that it was a transfer from BT (with current landline number transfer) at the exchange but Sky had put through a new (£20 charge) line, he was most miffed at Sky as he came several miles from the exchange he had been at before hand to say hi and bye after the one minute conversation to go back to the exchange to swap wires over lol Sky was live within 15 mins. I now just need to check their BT Sports sub in a few day that was with the original LR & BB order as they left 3 months early re: April 2nd price rise.

Will ask them to check if still BT Sports still on Sky platform tomorrow (allow BT system a overnight to catch up with LR/BB disconnection). I do know however they paid £6 a month BT Sports (including HD I think) and it included app/online (they used it in hospital several times) on a reduced broadband deal with Line Rental paid in advance, sure it was £16 a month which was better than the £21 a month previous BT Sports charge on Sky as standalone, with no BT BB as they were on a Sky free Broadband & half price line rental for 12 months, which I transferred to BT and everything started a new 12 month minimum including BT Sports, it worked out cheaper & with the £150 Reward MasterCard. Watching that old account BT/Sky BT Sports sub next few days :man::laughing:

BT don't make it easy! This exact deal was £29.99 via BT direct, £28.99 via cashback sites, and browser dependant I saw other variations of things ?? Just as above^

Never simple with communication companies is it! #eyeroll

Edit: Sorry, I logged in to the BT account, still showing LR & BB active - its (discounted) & noted as: Broadband and Calls Unlimited Broadband extra + calls (??) £5.99, BT Sport pack £6 (online/app/Sky) £11.99 a month (with no BT TV) all in. No idea where I got £16 from  probably thinking about someone else's account I have been doing transfers to/from ? Most probable  Anyway they are back on Sky BB @ £64 and as soon as that account updates will pay the years charges off (emergency/incoming landline only use) so they are a fluffy bunny. They still have sky Sports half price till May. (must give 30 days in April)

Further EDIT: tomorrows BT bill produced today, even say £6 BT S Pack till 23/4, other charges not correct as should be in credit more than stated, will await final bill. HOPELESS, I'm sure BT overcharge everyone hoping people don't notice incorrect charges!

If you pay a extra £5 a month yes, you can add it after activation if you did not do so at order. 3 months free on a 12 month term probably wont be available after activation (it might?) so it will be £5 monthly or £5 for 12 months for app/online access - just remember it uses mobile data even on a BT sim, so wifi is the best option - BT Wifi app will give you free access to millions of BT Wifi though.

My 12 month contract with Sky for Talk and ADSL ends in May. However, I've just received two letters from Sky confirming another company will take over my services on 31 March, and NO EARLY TERMINATION FEES.

Many thanks to @sensiboy for his advice and expert knowledge regarding OFCOM rules and 30 days' notice etc.

Thanks ever so much for another detailed response that makes sense.
Sounds good that I can sit back and let the internet just transfer over. Wonder if that's why it gave me 29th March as earliest setup date!? At first I thought ok 10 days and that it was a coincidence it was the exact date my old contract actually expires. Wonder if the system knew this or just a massive coincidence!?

It's great to have BT Sports on Sky (especially now they have got Boxnation coming)
However at (going up) £7.50 a month and then having to pay an extra £5 if you want it in HD It doesn't warrant £12.50 a month for the privilege.
Would rather not spend £150 for the years privalage and pay £10 for the box and watch free in SD. Plus the extra £30 TopCashBack for adding TV means £20 in my pocket, so a swing of £170

Currently on a 12 month Sports and Movies with 75% Off (pay £30.30 I think) and had £100 credit. So a very good saving this year on TV,Phone and BB.

Also to backup your post below this one. I too chose Starter for TV. Said BT Sports free for term of minimum contract and just a £10 one off fee. Guessing I can still access on App also. So everyone may as well take the box if wanting BT Sports.

Thanks for the clarification guys. I found it strange that I couldn't see what channels I was getting on the order screen, but so long as BT Sport comes pre-packed with the TV box I'm happy. Do I still get the app with this service as sometimes I like to watch the games whilst I'm out and about.

All BT TV YV boxes get BT Sports included. This is the TV order page for current BT BroadBand customers which shows available boxes & channels much better than the BT order process for new customers (scroll down to "see all channels" for each box/pack) https://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/add-tv/

Something is going on though as Starter works out free for current customers with £50 bill credit & Entertainment Plus is half price (as is Entertainment Starter for new customers) & new BT BB customers have to pay full £10 a month for Entertainment Plus - BT are getting the the TV numbers up for sure...?

If you didn't click the ANC or BT Sports for free until the end of July, then you are getting a freeview box that can pause and rewind a little for £10, however a £40 extra cashback and a box to keep. So bonus all round.

So my cashback tracked at £160 overnight with Quidco, so hopefully if everything goes smoothly, that's £160 + £200 back in incentives and my new account will supersede my currently "out of contract one" without having to give notice (?). I expect I will get a final bill from BT once the new account activates, and that will be it.

As for all these BT Sport queries above, it confused me tbh.
I actually want the sport pack, and I don't mind paying for it considering the ridiculously low price of this package, however, I couldn't figure out if I was getting it with the TV pack I paid £10 for?

You also have the option to 'upgrade' to a BT TV YouView (recordable) at £6 (rental?) a month to view the FREE ^BT Sport Pack - on BT TV" doing the order the way you did with BT Sport 12 month app & online access with £59.99 Activation & £34.99 a month But there is no mention of a free YV mini box ? No Entertainment Starter is half price @ £3 for 12 months, I only chose AMC for free, not BT Sport - I did not select any BT Sport packs in my order - so if BT Sport or Entertainment goes up I leave

Something can be FREE for 3 months but the price still changes to what it is marked at order later, ie say £5 and in
August after 3 months free it becomes £6 - it does not matter if it was free for X months if it was marked at £5 a month thereafter free period - it is still a price increase on the order agreement.

BT Sport has no price if you choose Starter TV on the order, next page is extras, here is what you will see:http://i.imgur.com/Y5TRwA2.png)

No idea what browser you are using but its not "free for 3 months" then chargeable - its free on BT TV process, there is no option to add it - what you have posted is PREMIUM content - HD, BT SPORTS is free with BT TV, unless you choose a app/sky/online subscription on the first order page ? Or as I stated the browser you are using is showing a different order & option process.

PS) can you link us to a BT site stating such specific dates & prices ?

my guess is no, so BT have not told current customers and can't tell new customers we are applying this and you can't leave penalty free.

I love how all these companies bamboozle ya all to think they are right about everything. And people like you fall for it. You need to start researching Ofcom website for a education to protect yourself from ruthless activities and charges.

The only mention of August is here: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/56087/~/we-are-putting-some-of-our-prices-up%2C-and-improving-your-service

No exact date (only August) or price, that's is not a notification to current customers of BT TV BT Sports, just a intention (that may or not be applied and no customer notifications need be sent) so when the changes go out in notifications loads of previous and new customers of this thread will be free to fly

Losing several thousands customers due to price rises in comparison with millions who stay is nothing, BT Retail still make 4 months money from you, where as BT Group promotions spent their money - a classic analogy of BT customer service - the left and does not know what the butt from the elbow of the right is doing. But they all look like they are performing well somehow!

22 Mar 17 #1086
If you are signing up for a FREE service you can't just be charged for it and be forced to stay. BT Sports is free on BT TV - price charges on other platforms are another case though.

You can give current customers more than 30 days notice but new customers must be informed from 30 days onward - for instance the April 2nd changes on the bt shop site, it was not there in Jan/Feb for that very reason.

You can't activate a service then tell a customer straight away your rates are going up in 4 months. And not expect them to use their right to leave.

Edit: I left when BT Sport went from free to £5 (or £10 as they were trying to bill me) I gave notice (my issue now was that BT did not backdate the billing period to a five and a half week from me giving notice and the 30 day notification from me - they billed me 2 months and equipment charges when I wanted to return it and they said 'no, we don't charge you anyway' and they did!)

If BT Sports (Esp free on BT TV platform) is part of your BB/L order then it is bundled - if any cost of any 3 rise or call charges you can cancel all services like I did 2015 - BT will argue blue murder you can't but you can - call Ofcom and tell them BT ain't complying with Regulations and Conditions of price rises.

Any mid contract price rise entitles a 'detriment' when bundled together - so if you order Sky BT/online Sports they can't tell you the price does not let you out the full contract if all are taken out at the same time. They can just cancel the BT Sport sky/app/online part if it is added AFTER the bundled order)

If BT Sports or Entertainment Starter costs rise for me in August it's 30 days notice back to them. Fixed price means fixed price, detriment means detrimental.
seaniboy
22 Mar 17 #1085
BT Sport can't go up from free to chargeable though on BT TV, that would be over inflation/retail index/whatever BT use, I meant via online/app/Sky fees.

21 Mar 17 #1082
Well you are in your final month of minimum term so should transfer across - no 30 days notice required. 30 days notice and disconnection transfer dates between them do not apply to you, 30 days notice is for those in mid contract minimum term period for April 2nd price rises.

I think your Sky sub will sit on the old account number unless cancelled seperate - just watch it does not go up with no discount due to the unlinked products that gives discount.

But then you don't need Sky sub so if it's does not cancel just phone BT and say this was meant to expire with BB removal. Or call BT Sports and give 30 days notice tomorrow would be my best bet - unless you wanna keep it ?? (Just asking you never know - you might want BT TV and Sky with BT Sport in a different room?)

Got a order on - just not in my name, got the £3 half price Entertainment Starter pack instead of Starter TV, Quidco tracked £160 on the new account holder new Quidco

£3 more gives you Eurosport (oh I hear the brexiteers SEETHING! Haha!!) and Nat Geo etc... it's not many but Sky or Virgin offer no channels for £3 extra really with a L/BB contract costing £5 (like this deal) & never mind BT Sports subs on top with Sky or V.

See above post for channel info for the £6 half price - £3 pack.

Cheers bud.

Just signed up to Starter for the £150 TCB and then £200 MasterCard offer.
Used same name and address, but different bank details.
Says it recognises a line at address and will supply me with a new number (no issue, hardly ever use phone anyhow)

Says set up for end of month. My current BT (different account) ends end of month too, but I haven't given notice yet.

Do I leave it to change itself.
Contact online and give my notice to leave and keep the end of the month?
Or...do I have to somehow time the dates by 30days of notice, i.e. Change my installation/start date, to 30 days from notifying them to cancel other account?

I don't think you can leave penalty free, because they are making us aware of BT sports price going up in Aug, at the time of signing up a new contract now.
seaniboy
21 Mar 17 1 #1078
That's BT for ya! No the Starter TV gives you AMC for free if you want it (and a few others? It used too) or extra for BT Sports HD/UHD - the BT Sport fee is going up in August on all platforms I believe, call charges are up on April 2nd for current customers. You have paid for online/app access with 3 months free, but since you already pay Sky it should be one or the other - BT should recognise you have Sky anyway but don't link them manually as any price rise would not tie in to the options on this order! Do not link accounts or you may invalidate a quit fee free in August.

Really BT should just sponsor the football leagues and get it done and over with.

Don't worry come June/July notification of August charges you will be able to leave with £160 and a £200 Mastercard as it is a bundled contract taken out at the same time and discount is dependant on BT BB but if they raise charges on BT Sport they invalidate their own bundled at order time terms :laughing:http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/56087/~/we-are-putting-some-of-our-prices-up,-and-improving-your-service

BT Sport is free in Starter so if they raise BT Sports (excluding HD/UHD) we are all laughing, the fees on the website are online, app & Sky access charges for BT TV customers wanting access anywhere but home or Sky.

How do I get BT Sports Pack?

There are 3 ways to watch BT Sport:

On the Sky Digital Satellite Platform
If you have a Sky box and an active Sky viewing card, you can easily get BT Sport Pack. You don't even need to be a BT customer, but if you do have BT TV then BT Sport Pack is free until 31st July & if you have BT Broadband then BT Sport pack is FREE for 3 months, then just £7.50 a month. Without BT Broadband it is FREE for 3 months, then £22.99 a month.

On BT TV
Watch live sport on BT TV with a BT Infinity or BT Broadband package. And if you can get BT Infinity with BT TV, you can add BT Sport HD for a small monthly fee.

On the BT Sport app and online player
As long as you've got broadband from BT, you can watch BT Sport on your PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet using the app and online player. You'll need to enter your BT ID to start watching.

BT Sport Pack on BT TV and the Sky Digital Satellite Platform
You can have BT Sport simultaneously on BT TV and Sky if you subscribe to both services. This costs £6 a month for the BT Sport Pack.

On BT Mobile
For customers with BT Mobile only, you can watch on your smartphone using the app.
BT Sport Pack is free for all BT TV customers, and it gives you:

All the games from Europe's Elite Club Competition
42 exclusively live Premier League football matches
Live Aviva Premiership Rugby matches
All the season's MotoGP™ races – live and exclusive
Live WTA tennis matches from global tournaments

I read that as it being free if I select BT TV box.
£7.50 if I want it on SKY
Or Free for 3 months and then £5 a month if I just choose online or App!?

You can sign up as a new customer even if you are an existing one. Go through the order and choose all the options as if you are a new customer. He then told me tomorrow to call customer service to cancel my current contract and they can arrange to tag my current landline number to the new account which i have chosen to activate in 31 days (to allow the 30 days notice on current contract).

They can also move my BT Mobile accounts to the new account. I have a copy of the transcript incase i call tomorrow and they tell me otherwise.

Well spoke to BT today, not the dept that messed up in 2015 but another dept and they said yes they will have to fix it via the Ofcom report sent across - they agreed expecting me to pay £200 for just under 6 weeks of service for LR & BB was not right given I gave 30 days notice within 30 days of activation due to the price charges.

BT cannot send me any bills as none are available on the system, nor My BT account after login, agent agreed again that does not make sense (and it shows "what you owe £0") on the account. Got to Speak to High Level Complaints again (who made billing date error) when they return Ofcom's new complaint on the same issue after all this time...

I can't believe you can not know a customer is due £200 and not write to them in 14 months from customer last contacting BT (when customer was told you are due as £0) in total now because this has reared it ugly head again because they tried to rejoin 18 months later, what a shambles!

TalkTalk will know there is an advice of transfer pending but it won't stop a new order, tags won't be changed until the service is transferred, Samknows will show TalkTalk as the provider.

TalkTalk can stop a transfer, as can any provider, to stop mistakes happening, so TalkTalk do have the ability to help TheDodger if they choose to, although it's in their interest to not be helpful if they retain a customer.

Im not a bt engineer but I would have thought line speeds are all controlled remotely at the provider as I'd guess they've got allocated line bandwidth so it's all dependant on that rather than what is done at the box.

So when you leave a provider your line is technically dead with no speed as such

Until Openreach remove the TalkTalk equipment, which won't happen as the order is cancelled, then you remain a TalkTalk customer, just don't tell TalkTalk you're leaving otherwise the take over will fail, have you put a cancelation request in ?

How is BT at error ? TheDodger is a TalkTalk customer, BT are hardly going to block a customer joining them.

Essentially yes, from what I've read from comments on here.

£29.99 x 12 = £359.88 + £59.99 activation + £10.00 TV activation = £429.87.

£200 gift card and £160 Quidco

End result £69.87 / 12 = £5.82/ month

You need to visit:

bt.com/claimmyreward

From there, you enter the details, once your line has been activated.

You can then, when you receive the pre-paid card, use it to pay off the line rental in one go... But, you will then need to continue to pay the broadband part seperately...

I'm out of contract end of March (have had letters this week about saving on cost of BT Sports (currently watch through Sky Box))

Account is in my name with joint bank account details.

Would I;
1. Go online and give them 30 days notice to leave (just tell guy I'm keeping line and moving to Sky?
2. Then go through TopCashBack and do the deal and create new account under girlfriends name? (assuming can't use my name again?
3. Would I then have to use girlfriends bank details to pay? (Would it flag using same joint account details for payment? Or if I used my own personnel bank details it would recognise me or the fact it's her account name and different name on card?)
4. What date would I select as the instilation/takeover date? Would I need to time the dates to be 30 days? Or do as soon as possible?

Sorry for the detailed questions, but time is running out on deal and would like a good deal. Bt (on my current account) offers me 18months at £31.99 which is for landline and infinity 1 with weekend calls. But this is better deal.
Just want the cleanest easiest way of doing it.
Would prefer bank details to be either mine or joint as she worries about direct debits from her account so price of mind for her.

Hope someone can give me the answers to what I have put. Thanks so much in advance, been a long night shift so hopefully when I reawaken around 7-8pm I can go straight into setting this up.
Thanks

( I contacted Ofcom to lodge the complaint and the young lady was a liar and repeatedly did so even when I was correcting her. Ended up lodging a complaint against her for lies, misleading and giving repeated incorrect information, and the guy I spoke to the second time who took complaint sent it on to BT to correct their earlier errors, that young lady head is going to roll for unprofessionalism - I had to even keep reminding her to stop interrupting and listen to me before responding as a public servant with CORRECT information, still she carried on, quoting wrong legislation & Ofcom Regulations & Conditions and making a fool of herself and bring Ofcom into disrepute - she even denied EVER Ofcom even take complaints and give ref numbers let alone send them on. Farce. Perhaps the Scottish accent she made a incorrect judgement of no intelligence/education or it was xenophobic. That was far worse than calling BT and she is a telecom regulator employee)

My Sky deal runs out soon, so I registered for this. But, got a cancellation of my account. Phoned BT who told me to wait 24 hours for the account to be closed before trying to sign up again.

But, I've done a search on my exchange, and I am unable to get Infinity now, as it's apparently over subscribed... WTF.

Hi,
I placed order last friday, cashback tracked on quidco etc. Today I created BT account, to find out that I have already 2nd account with them under same email. I placed and canceled order back in 2015, using same email, but i didnt think they keep my account and not delete it until request... I never been their customer but have now 2 accounts, one invalid and new one with this deal order placed... I didnt remembered which mail I used, and didnt check it (fool..). I thinked i used my primary one but found out today I used same for new order.. What do you think I should do? Master card with 200 is for "new" customer only same as quidco cashback... Theoretically I never become their customers, but I'm afraid to stay with nothing from rewards and pay in full...
I checked now and it looks like its allowing me to place new order (under wife name with new email) using same landline phone number. Should I cancel this and place 2nd order with new email to be safe? Would they not have any problems about line taking over for same phone number?

I have already had my order cancelled. The reason was that there is 0% infinity capacity in my area. Things never do go smoothly with BT. I was a bit worried about their monthly fees also because if you don't cancel exactly on time then you get hit with monthly fees that would erode any benefit. But I thought it was worth a punt. Anyway, I wanted to let the forum know that BT have cancelled my order for capacity reasons.

I cancelled around the same time, I'll stick around for a bit then and see if they give me a call. That's pretty much what I wanted from Virgin when I spoke to them. They wouldn't budge at all, they just wanted to push me to a higher package...

They don't offer the speed guarantee like BT and SKY do, so you cant leave without paying their exit fee...I think £20 is fair for a 70mb.

Hi all,

I hope I haven't missed this earlier in the thread. I am currently with Virgin media out of contract, I believe that i still need to give 30 days notification to leave. I would like to go for this deal but keep my existing telephone number. Would I just order this deal to start on the day my Virgin contract would end?

Do BT arrange for the transfer of the number? Or should I inform Virgin that I will move to BT. When I moved from Talk Talk to Virgin there was an option to arrange the move and the closing of my contract was all handled by Virgin and the number transferred across.

If anyone could advise I would appreciate it.

Many thanks all!

20 Mar 17 #959
Normally you would give your 30 days notice to cancel and once it's on the system, you simply order as new customer and request new line. It will automatically pick up that there is a cancellation and will transfer the line on that cancellation date.
xCxS
20 Mar 17 #958
It just seems like they are all a bunch of liars tbh.
They try to catch you out with all sorts.

The offer they just handed me is not up to scratch and they try win you over by saying "you save £59.99" by not having to re-activate etc... when in reality, there is lots to be saved if you can really be bothered to go the extra mile.
PKRichie
20 Mar 17 #957
BT will cancel the direct debit automatically once the final payment on the old account is taken.
The new order will create a new direct debit setup.

The equipment on the old account is yours to keep, you don't even have to swap it if you don't want, most likely you have a hub 5 and the new order will send you a smart hub, both will work fine.

You're over complicating things, place the order and be done, you do not have to contact them unless you have BT Sport on Sky, as that is a standalone product and would remain active once the old account is taken over.
xCxS
20 Mar 17 #956
On the flipside, they finally made me a loyalty offer of £27.99/ month for Infinity 1, £0 activation fee (obviously) and a discount on BT sport (which I want anyway, as I watch a lot of it). Total price: £30.49.

It takes all the hassle out of starting fresh, but it still feels like I am getting a rough deal here compared to new sign ups...
xCxS
20 Mar 17 #955
Really? If I cancel the direct debit is it likely I will get charged though?
I know I am out of contract, but not telling them I am leaving could cause potential hazards surely as I am still using their gear etc?

I could always try it but I fear TCB or Quidco may see it as if I'm cheating the system...
PKRichie
20 Mar 17 #954
If you're out of contract then no need to contact them, just place the order and that's it.
Forget about the old account, just create the new one and ignore the letter that will be sent saying 'Another person has told us they're taken services at your property etc'

You ignore it because it's correct, you are that other person taking over your own line
yaz84
20 Mar 17 #953
Adding the Tv package costs an extra £10 (setup fee etc), then £0 a month. But you receive £160 quidco cashback rather than £100 for Broadband and Calls (through Quidco).

If you are buying a BT mobile SIM and any other extras you will get more cashback...but you probably don't need a SIM/Mobile contract.

So if you're just looking to get broadband, its better to take out the TV starter package through Quidco.

BT are giving me the run around.
Been with them for nearly 2 years, currently out of contract and one advisor told me over the weekend that I should advise that I wish to cancel, wait 48 hours and then purchase as a new customer.

Just a heads up, can't use the reward card as part of the bill so you shouldn't really deduct the cost including the rewards card.

Online and on-phone customer service are a joke, didn't know anything about their services and what can and can't be done...alot of stuttering...Asked 2 simple questions and got transferred to 5 different people ( 5th person just sighed and cut me off over the phone, after listening to what I had been told and what I wanted to do next - which was to downgrade the package)...If this is what their customer is service is like for those who are not in contract yet, I can't imagine the stress people go through that are in contract already lol...Time to cancel.

Think I might have done the same as you. When placing the order if you click the Starter Package, then click NO THANKS to BT Sport, it removes the starter package. You should just place the order, click Starter TV and ignore the BT Sport bit.

I did a live chat, a phone call and another live chat . They said to cancel and re-order in order to get the TV package.

I went on a chat and asked them how long it will take if cancelled before I can re-order...at which point they cancelled it and said 48 hours....by which time the £200 mastercard deal expires.

My advice, just accept taking less cashback, its not worth the headache to change.

I have placed the order again but their customer service say it might not track correctly or be cancelled as a duplicate.

I've spoken to a "manager/supervisor", they werent much help, advised me now that it was in the process of cancellation that I should create a new account and try to order again tomorrow...but they weren't even sure that would work. :disappointed:

When I ordered BT infinty 1 unlimited a couple of years ago, there was a problem with my order, which just got stuck for about a week on their system (was then on sky unbundled on a BT line), once I got the right department which took a fair amount of calls, they cancelled the original order and I put in a fresh one online myself, which they said they'd monitor it to make sure it didn't get stuck again, and assured me when I asked them that I'd still get the cashback and vouchers (the offer I'd signed up had ended). Got my quidco cashback, marks and Spencer vouchers and pre credited sainsburys (i think it was) card and the new order went through fine. Today i received a call from BT saying that they will be transferring my landline on my activation date but there is a "problem" as my line isnt supported. So what they will do is transfer the landline and then reissue the broadband part of the order which will take 5-6 days. I have my broadband with sky and telephone with BT. The mse email suggested I could still get the uswitch deal IE 200+40 but can I get cashback via TCB for either broadband only or broadband and Tiv along with the 200£
Also does anyone know why when you select starter tv option the infinity 2 speed drops to 56mb?

They will have a schedule on the site which you need to choose. It will take up to 2/3 weeks to officially get the service active. You can also write comments which the engineer will see, so you can tell them what the property is like, what to do if no one is available etc...

Yes. I think there is a drop down box for selecting a date. Although I just did the default one as that day is convenient for my parents.

You could go through the order process to that part without completing it.

** Could someone verify this please **

I also found this:
https://www.cable.co.uk/compare/bt-infinity/

So could potentially earn:
1. £200 mastercard: How do we use this to cover the bill?
2. £50 referral from cable.co.uk : Get a cheque, fill-in BT CB form stating you seen the offer from cable.co.uk (Ask BT chat for cashback link) once line is active.
3. £160 TCB or QC : Will they honour the deal if we claim the £50? They mention the reward card only but I was assuming that the £50 claim is coming direct from BT so it shouldn't affect TCB or QC, right?

Anyone experiencing intermittent dropped connections and flaky speeds - I had an eye opening experience with Sky last month which was eventually traced back to an BT OpenReach exchange fault that is apparently common nationwide.

OpenReach bought a large batch of "blocks" (for the exchange racks) with a new (cheaper) design, which one of their engineers says are fundamentally flawed and don't secure the connection cable correctly (particularly with the current tool they're provided with). BT are apparently evaluating legal action against the supplier.

The symptom of this loose connection will be thousands of dropped packets ("FEC errors") on the line. I couldn't see from my router, but ISP should in theory be able to see them - though Sky were crap and denied any issue until I forced them to send an OpenReach tech. Engineer suspected the issue before even ran line test - apparently sees it every single day and is nationwide issue.

The issue can start any time work is done at the exchange - engineer accidentally nudges an existing cable while installing a new one, connector fails to hold it securely so line starts experiencing FEC errors. Hope that's helpful for someone.

But BT itself says they will contact the (line/number) owner on the next page if you select YES here:

http://i.imgur.com/7OLS9Wd.png)

I think its safe to say because people are transferring services from a old account to a new one they have barred such even though the option is still on the website it bars it, they cant do that its a legitimate new order/transfer at the same address, but they have. Seems like anyone affected needs to call Ofcom and lodge a complaint against BT practice that's has started since this deal was posted. Its not in BT's right to refuse a new order where the old customer is on BT, and the new tenant wants to join BT with or without a number transfer. DODGY BT as ever.

Just found this:

http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/41530/~/i-need-to-change-the-bt-account-details-as-im-separating-from-my-partner

If you're splitting from a partner you live with, we treat each person as a separate customer. (At the moment the account may be in just one person's name, although you both used the service.)

If the account holder is moving out, we class the person who is taking over the line as a new customer. This means we can't just transfer the existing account to a different name.

If the person moving out isn't keeping their number, then the new customer can request to keep the number (if it still works).

Please tell us about any changes by calling 0800 800 150

The links you mention seem to be exactly the same so it shouldn't make a difference. The only one that is different is the box at the bottom that mentions the £200 reward card but I have tried all of them.

I am having the same problem as Need2know7 and Urzrkymn where it is trying to charge me -£6,659.98 for the total monthly charges. After being 'redirected to complete the order' the price of the Unlimited Infinity is £29.49 rather than £28.99 as well. Has anyone managed to get to the bottom of this? I have tried contacting BT but they can only suggest ringing a number to order but obviously I won't get cashback this way. This is a new line order as well, not sure if that is making a difference.

Yes tried all the options but with the same outcome. If i sign up via quidco and place the order surely it would track, even if BT call me to transfer the number the order has gone through regardless?

The only thing i haven't tried is signing up through mobile data, i will try this tomorrow as my signal is hit and miss at home
seaniboy
19 Mar 17 #908
I cant understand why BT is doing that ? did you try all my options ? I may be wrong here but if BT contact you at her request to transfer the number it may invalidate cashback ? it's possible either way. BT online should not be doing this, I would call Ofcom and lodge a complaint they have removed this from the website order process, they maybe have got wise to what old/new customers are doing and pulled it but if a customer has completed minimum term or cab leave because the 2 April price charges they should not be stopping anyone taking over a number - even the website says we will contact the current line owner.

It is for most, LLU is sparse in comparison to BT Wholesale offerings. But yes you are paying for better trained (onshore) apes and that can make all the difference, but so can calling BT once and no resolution then calling Ofcom to send to BT's proper trained apes department. Not bad for £5 a month and a now proactive telecom regulator

Reading that they say landline service the AND broadband will cancel the +Net account so that will be manually processed I assume. Yup hit them up on Live Chat and keep a copy of the conversation by transcript (if available)/copy&paste/screenshot(to Paint)/requesting email sent to you of convo from advisor - I do everyone I can, cover all bases.

(pedantically even when I follow a link on cashback sites I click back to the cashback page tab and screenshot & Paint "your visit has been recorded" - its all about being proactive to prove others mistakes or idiotic understandings of their product/s & procedures  )

We're sorry to hear you're moving your landline service.

Another service provider has told us that you're moving your phone service to them.

Your phone service will transfer automatically on 3rd April 2017 and will result in the cancellation of your phone contract.

• If you're also moving your broadband service - (we've not got confirmation of this yet) this should happen on the date set out above and will result in the cancellation of your Plusnet account - we'll send you another email with further details if this is the case

• If you're not moving your broadband service - we'll continue to supply your broadband and any other services you have with us after this date

All services noted on your BT order transfer, +Net still do standalone broadband with any other provider, so thus the email is worded old school, it should say all services active ie L & BB.

But call +Net and confirm all services are transferring, its their error in the email so pull them up on it as a final bye bye, it also would be easy for anyone older or vulnerable to be confused that their email says line only, if you don't report it it may never change (but knowing BT Group of companies including +Net it will never change!) but if anything you get reassurance & good karma for trying to correct their idiotic email

My contract with PlusNet ran out last month and I've been waiting for a decent deal to come along. This was enough for me to sign up on Friday 17th.

I've got a switch over date from BT of the 31st March, but not had anything from PlusNet yet.

I wasn't interested in BT's TV service, but for £0.00 per month, a one off fee of £10, but extra TCB, I took it.

The TCB has indeed tracked at the higher amount (£150) and I just hope they pay out.

seaniboy
19 Mar 17 #893
its not a transfer of BB or LR its a closure of account and opening of a new one, the transfer just means the line is never disconnected between the two and a transfer of landline number is also a available option for the new account holder which starts a new account & 12 month term.

If you are still in your minimum term and you mean fees from that, give 30 days notice of disconnection as prices for calls rise on 2nd April and then place new order (with or without landline number being transferred to new account).

As current account holder, I have to cancel my Phone and Broadband as it may be not allowed (?) to transfer to the BB to the account name. So if I cancel the current BB, would BT impose a charge cession charge for the BB.
Would it be allowed to transfer BB to friend/relative's new account?
seaniboy
19 Mar 17 #889
No £31(?) is line disconnection - as in dead and dusted and unusable until another provider is actioned, a transfer is free which cancels the BT account in your name and a new term starts in the new account holders name.

GREAT!
So BT are making customers take a triple package as I mentioned earlier...TV or sim with LR/BB I don't think Ofcom will be happy with BT abusing it's already monopoly position to bump its mobile/tv subscriber figures up. Are BT looking to sell themselves in the near future? seems very likely now...get them figures (and assumed potential revenue sources) up & upsell customers extras on them - BT Sports comes to mind for TV, as does family sims for mobile :man:

You can keep it, but they repeatedly ask you if you would like to sent it back to them for disposal. If you leave before the end of the contract, then I believe you have to pay one twelfth of the cost price X remaining months (assuming you've signed for a 12 month contract).

Exactly, and like others I just had the £160 tracked straight away.

The monthly cost, for Infinity Unlimited fibre plus phone plus free starter TV, is: (£69.99 one off + £28.99 x 12 - £200 mastercard - £160 quidco) / 12, i.e. princely sum of..... £4.83 per month!! :sunglasses:

I thought the £15 per month Virgin fibre/tv/phone deal plus net initial credit of £35 a little while ago was amazing...

Try 'cancel' ? may move the order forward, if not start again try the £10 one off BT TV Starter & see if it forces you the same (maybe BT say you must now have a 'triple' bundle of some kind now?), technology as good as the idiot programmer who done the legwork! BT cannot force you to take a sim, only offer discount if you do.

EDIT: strange thing is, they BT sims are not showing the BB sim discount. Clear your browser or use another, seems to be a conflict somewhere as BT site should show the discounted price on a LR/BB order. May well be a local conflict on your browser or the actual BT site.

Further edit: The price it showed for me was £5 for the top and bottom options on my order when they offered it to me, the middle two options seem to have the discount already applied ? Seems to be a BT error, try clear the browser or use a new one anyw
