These little Engines have been around for a long time now and I have traded in various examples with more than 150k miles on them and running well. How you ask??? Service history.. I have also noted 3+ litre Diesel engines with less than 100k ruined with DPF filter failures causing subsequent component failures to Turbos and Injectors etc.... Dont believe the nonsense from People who see a small engine and automatically think it won't last. My little 50cc Mower is over 20 years old and running like clockwork. Petrol engines run cleaner, leaner and meaner. Period.

same sort of power as a 1.6tdi golf/Octavia, Leon
I have had no issues with my Octavia when fully loaded up. modern small petrol with turbo/supercharger are the future not diesel.

it's a good deal, it's a lease, so longevity of the engine is of no concern to the one who takes up the lease. so who gives a monkeys about the whole diesel Vs petrol argument? anyone picking this, with it's 1.0 engine and 8k miles has no interest or intention of travelling up and down the motorway everyday. it will be for school runs and shopping trips, in which case it's ideal. rant over

Test drove this a few weeks ago - much much better than the 1.0 spec makes it sound...

That's a ridiculous statement to make, a diesel engine has double the torque of this petrol engine

jeez 1litre. These engines won't last. They are so highly strung with turbo and superchargers. (I know its a lease).
Don't you feel like we are getting fobbed off with these tiny engines yet big cars. will be lucky to see it go past 100k mileage. where's the economy in that?
They should hand out Viagra when you take ownership so you can still feel like a proper bloke from time to time.

This is a lease deal - does anyone really care if the mileage goes over 20k...?

Americans were saying that with their 5.0ltr V8s in the 80s.

Until government realise they aren't getting the revenue they thought they would from the changes in road tax.
