I was looking around for the best deal for the Roku Streaming stick and stumbled across this deal : buy " The Judge" and get a free Roku streaming stick..seems a good deal to me as the best price for the stick is around £39.

I imagine this will get hot, especially with the recent update to the Now TV boxes (disablement of developer mode). Good find OP!

Yeah, wonder what model of stick though, the 3500 is supposed to be the same as the white now TV boxes.

There is no info on the site about which model it is , but it looks like the newest model , I do not really mind as it is for the TV in the conservatory.

It will probably be the 3500EU version as I don't think Roku have released the 3600 over here. There are a lot of positive reviews on Amazon UK for what I'm assuming is the 3500EU version.

From what I can see this is the older stick. The newer ones are black and sold in the US, not here (as such the iplayer wont work with them).
I don't want to take a gamble at £28 on something that might be too slow. Anyone got a deal on a cheaper one or a Roku 3 at £50 or under? Can't find anything.. I think Sky (who own Roku) are hiking the prices after disabling Plex on NowTV boxes. Ah well, it was good while it lasted with Nowtv/Plex.

The Roku stick is far too slow for Plex, very laggy in menus and accessing menus in playback
Even playback sometimes is naff

The price of Roku 2 and 3 has always been a fair bit higher, circa £80 for a 3 and £60 for a 2. Even at those prices they are a bargain if you want one box that does most of the major services out there. Corking little devices. The fact you can get a Roku 3 for £67 (Amazon) only makes it a bigger bargain. Only real letdown really is a lack of a BT Sport app (or if I was interested in it then UK Tv Play.)

I have used a brand new Roku 3 (4200eu) for 1 week,
I am massively disappointed with how laggy this box is,
It hangs all the time does not load you tube or netflix 50% of the time,
The only fix is to unplug it, but it just keeps doing it,
I looked into it only to find out that the fastest Roku 3 box is to slow with only a dual core processor running a 900 mhz,
And was discontinued in October 2016, maybe this is why they drop to £50,
The streaming stick 3500 has a single core processor running at 700mhz, the same processor running in the first generation Raspberry Pi,
After a week it has annoyed me so much i am going to get an Android tv box,
An octo core (8 processor) box is only £50,
With 2GB of ram & 16GB of memory with the ability to use a wired or wireless keyboard,
Using the remote to input netflix email address 5 times a day and typing into you tube search bar is massively frustrating with the Roku 3 player,
An android box has access to the google play store as well,
Don't waste your money on anything Roku it seems the sell out dated tech at over inflated prices,
My roku 3 is definitely not worth £50, £30 maybe,
I watched all the reviews on you tube and no problems were mentioned,
This is why i need to mention it as i don't want others to get burned,
It is like using a iphone 1 now it would be very laggy and unresponsive,
They released a Roku 3 (4230) in the US and a watched a review and it is no where near as laggy as the 4200,
But it is not available in this country.

I suggest you clearly have something wrong with your Roku box. Either it's physically faulty, or you are not running the latest firmware and separately software updates. (You could have manually checked those in settings.) Have been running both Roku 2 and 3 for just over 2 years, and can say that the Roku has crashed on me twice, both times when I sat on the remote and accidentally mashed the shortcut buttons, sending the box into meltdown trying to load up one service and then another. The Roku's are the main entertainment hubs in the house, so are in constant usage.
As for lacking "power", come on! How much power does a streaming box need!?
It takes exactly 11 seconds to wake the Roku 3, go from home screen through to Now Tv, and start streaming a show on my watchlist. Just how fast do you need it!?

You could always have used the official Roku remote app to input those details from your phone quickly or indeed loaded the YouTube app on your mobile and Cast to the Roku from there. But the fact that you were constantly having to do so points to a faulty unit/needs a firmware update anyway,

Have used a roku 3 here for ages and has been fine on the apps i used.
Roku stick is definitely laggy for plex if you're thinking of doing that.

Just wondering why people buy this ( and others) for Plex , I just cast plex from my lappy/tablet/phone using chromecast , (before chromecast I just used a cable) and have no problems at all....?

I need to investigate the Chromecast. I like the roku/nowtv interface though. Sitting back of an evening and just using the one simple remote, not fiddling around with a laptop/phone.

Cheers for the info, suspected as much.
The Roku 3 looks the biz. The person above posting that it is laggy must have a duff box or a weak connection or something. My black NowTV box is effectively a Roku 3 with certain features disabled and it is lightening fast.
