Ok, yes it seems like the state of GTX 1080's is in flux, so much so that the price just keep tumbling. Anyhow on with the show, err.. I mean deal.
This has just gone out of stock from Amazon.it, but it will be back in on or before the 19th March at a cost of €493.86, to select this price use the box below the add to basket button labelled "Confronta offerte su Amazon" it is the top one "Spedizione GRATUITA. Dettagli Venduto da: Amazon" if you use a browser to convert the text it will be in English, and very obvious.
Currently with delivery the price is coming in at a grand total of €492.06, which converts to between £424-426 using a fee free credit card. Make sure you select the option to pay in EUR at the checkout, do not let Amazon complete the Forex for you as you will end up paying £441.18, so £16 more!
To sum up, what a bargain, in nvidia terms anyhow!

My issue with a 1080 is it's uselessly positioned. It is inadequate for 4K gaming (20-30fps) and overkill for 1440p where a 1070 is better value and perfectly aligned performance wise to deliver 60+ FPS.
The 1080 unfortunately fell short resolution wise and unless you're SLI is pretty pointless IMO.
At least the 1080ti can deliver 4k and is useful, in that sense the 30% although relatively small is a huge gain, you can play at the the holy grail resolution.

Good indeed. Shame it's that model (preference) I want a back plate. Would have bought it otherwise.

What actually is the back plate for? Does it make any difference or just a visual?

Pre-order is at nvidia £699, so only 64% more cost for at best 35% increase in performance. I feel that this is the real sweet spot for price vs. performance right now. Unless you play games at 4K, but then again I don't buy these sorts of cards for playing games, so I'll just say nothing more ;p

To be fair, compared with the many ~£330-340 1070s we've seen you're paying about 30% more to get ~20% more performance here.
But yes, given the expected diminishing returns on higher-priced graphics cards, I can still see this making sense for a lot of people.

1080 is the equivalent of Radeon 7870 card AMD had years ago and should have costed £190 from the start. While 1080ti is an equivalent of 7970 and would have costed £350 back then. Funny how Nvidia charged £700 for 1080 non ti and people paid!

They're a business and without competition they can force the market price. Intel and Nvidia have weak competition from AMD thus the prices both companies charge for their product.

190 from the start? Then would the 480 cost 90 quid, the 1080ti cost 350? I don't know what planet you are from, but that's crazy.
